IVY

i woke up to the sound of shouting and running. i was going to ignore it when my door burst open.

i sat up in bed and saw my sister, mum, dad and .... brother?

stood there staring at me with wide eyes and massive fucking grins on their faces.

"what" i groaned out, my British accent coming on thick as i've just woken up. i sound like a proper chav. yuck.

"GUESS WHAT" iris shouted at me causing me to wince. i had a headache, i don't know why but i always have headaches in the morning.

"stop fucking shouting" i groaned out causing my mum to glare at me.i quickly apologised before turning to the other 3 sensible family members.

"what's up" i said more clearly this time, causing Wayne to smile even wider.

"dad said that his family from nigeria are coming down to see us" he said excitedly.

i jumped out of bed before shouting incoherent things like i 'i need to get ready' and 'when omg when', whilst running around my room trying to arrange it with 3 other people in it.

"calm down ivy they're coming today but at 3:00pm and we're having a barbecue" my mum said calmly.

i stopped in my tracks before jumping around excitedly. i fucking loved my dads side of the family, we've been to nigeria a number of times before and my cousins are my favourite people in the world.

they weren't an old school type of nigerian family and i loved them for that, i was so excited to see them again although i saw them last year Christmas.

i hugged my mum and iris and told them we need to go shopping for presents.

"oh and one more thing. owen's coming, you're mum couldn't keep her mouth shut and told everyone about him to they want to meet him. okay byeeee" my dad said in one breathe before rushing out.

i turned back to my mum, a look of betrayal on my face as she looked guilty.

i kissed me teeth and she took ahold of my forearm before pulling me into a hug swaying side to side, Wayne had already gone and it was just me iris and my mum.

"i'm sorry baby but i just had to let them know! like had to, they kept asking about your life it's like they knew. i think you're dad told them first" she put emphasise of the had and tried putting the blame on my dad.

"this was all your doing women don't pull me into this" my dad yelled from whatever part of the house he was in.

his yelling caused me to let out a quiet chuckle which made my mum smile as she knew i was no longer angry.

"ugh whatever now i have to prep him in case they ask him questio- wait - what's the time"
i cut myself off wanting to see if i had enough time for everything.

"it's 12:00pm and don't worry we already have gifts for everyone so you can go see owen now if you want" iris interjected.

"okay okay yeah ill do that ,now leave thank you!!" i dragged out whilst pushing them out of my room so i can get ready.

im so excited for owen to meet my family. hope he knows how to eat fufu properly.
