"Here we go. Are you sure you have everything? Are you sure you don't want us to drive out with you?"
"Yes, Mom," Cassian replied with a chuckle.
Since he was going to drive to university, he didn't see the need to have them drop him off, figuring that it would only waste fuel and time.
"Um, I guess I'll see you." He leaned to hug her quickly before doing the same to his father.
"Drive safely and call us on the way, also when you get there." His mother frowned. "I'll just check your location," she added.
"Only until I've reached the campus," Cassian said as he turned to greet Zion, even though he had done so minutes earlier.
He mumbled another goodbye to Zion as they hugged again before the kid headed back inside, citing that he was going to return to his game. Cassian chuckled as his eyes met Theodore's before looking back to his parents and subtly raised his brows but they just stared back at him, both smiling. He tilted his head towards the house slightly, making his father look towards it as if there was something to see and then the older man began nodding.
"Oh. Cassian, if you want us to leave the two of you alone, just ask."
He felt his face heat as his parents laughed while Theodore chuckled. But even after he said that they didn't move.
"Okay? Mom, Dad. Please?" his asking only made them laugh more before they began to head into the house. He shook his head feeling slightly embarrassed.
Despite how long he had been with Theodore, and how long his parents had known, they always acted weird about it. No wonder he never even considered bringing anyone he was dating over. Well, that and all of his friends found his parents incredibly intimidating. He understood why, even he felt intimidated by them sometimes. More in the past than recently though.
Well, at least they weren't opposed to the relationship anymore and had conveyed to Ryan's parents that there was no chance of an engagement.
Cassian snapped out of his unconscious frowning at the ground when he felt arms pull him into a hug and smiled as he was pressed into Theodore's chest.
"I guess this is it. It's over, Cassian," Theodore mumbled.
"What?" Cassian pulled back, shocked.
"Our holidays and the wait to start school. It's over." Theodore pretended to be confused by the reaction to his words but began laughing when Cassian gave him a gentle push.
"You said it that way on purpose!" He frowned, but it didn't last long as he also began laughing and stepped forward to lock his arms around Theodore.
After successfully finishing the school year and winning the national school soccer league, Cassian and his friends spent the summer mostly hanging out. It seemed to pass in seconds and now he was getting ready to leave. He had already said goodbye to all his friends, Lance weeks earlier because he had decided to take a gap year and travel for a few months.
Cassian couldn't believe how fast time seemed to fly and now he wished they had just walked out of school on that last day again with plans of heading to some pizza place instead of leaving almost everyone and everything he knew for a while; probably never seeing some of the friends and acquaintances he made in school again. A few people were going to the same school he was, but it wouldn't be the same.
He was excited about making new friends, learning and exploring the area, but the change left him feeling just as gloomy as he was excited. He had figured that the worst part would be leaving Theodore, and that was proving to be true as his eyes stung while he felt arms tighten around him and mimicked the movement to try to pull the body against his closer, even though it was impossible.
