SCARLETT DIDN'T LIKE TANTALUS for a lot of things. He was arrogant, rude, annoying, and looked like a Jeffrey Dahmer wannabe. But what she really found unnecessary was this dumb curfew he set. Apparently, if you snuck out past it, harpies would eat you.

She thought that was bullshit. Nightly strolls around camp were a usually part of her nightly routine. Lucky for her, she had invisibility on her side now. Could the harpies still smell her? Probably. But she just needed some alone time to clear her head, no matter what stupid rule Tantalus set.

Then she heard Percy yelling for help in the distance. Scarlett immediately ran in the direction of his voice, leading her to the beach. Annabeth and Tyson arrived there at the same time, equally worried as they approached him.

"Percy?" Scarlett asked concernedly. "What happened?"

"I heard you calling for help!" Annabeth spoke.

"Me, too!" Tyson said. "Heard you yell, 'Bad things are attacking!'"

"I didn't call you guys," Percy reassured them calmly. "I'm fine."

"But then who . . ." Annabeth's voice trailed off, her eyes locked on something.

Scarlett followed her gaze, noticing Percy was holding four yellow duffel bags, a thermos, and a bottle of vitamins. "Percy, what—"

"Just listen," Percy interrupted. "We don't have much time."

He explained his conversation with Hermes—how he told him to go on the quest anyway, even without permission, and how he gave them all goodies to help them out.

When he finished, screeches could be heard in the distance — patrol harpies picking up on their scent. Scarlett knew they had to leave camp, and so the very thing Chiron told them not to. She had a feeling that agreement was pretty much void now. Chiron also told her to stick with Percy . . . so at least she was doing that part.

"Well," Scarlett spoke up. "looks like we're doing the quest."

"But we'll get expelled, you know. Trust me, I'm an expert at getting expelled." Percy told her.

"So? If we fail, there won't be any camp to come back to." Annabeth argued.

"Yeah, but you guys promised Chiron—"

"Scar and I promised we'd keep you from danger. We can only do that by coming with you! Tyson can stay behind and tell them—"

"I want to go," Tyson voiced.

"No!" Annabeth's voice sounded panicked. "I mean . . . Percy, come on. You know that's impossible."

Percy thought for a moment. Annabeth and Tyson stared at him, waiting for an answer, meanwhile Scarlett's eye caught on a cruise ship sailing in the distance.
