"Mom, there you are!" Charlie calls out as he spots me, and he rushes over to give me a hug. He looks so happy and in love, and it's hard to believe that my little boy is all grown up and getting married.
"Hey, honey." I reply, returning his embrace. "Everything looks beautiful."
"Thanks, we're so excited!" Charlie beams. "Harper and I have been planning this wedding for months, and it's finally coming together."
"I can see that." I say, looking around at the decorations and the guests gathering for the rehearsal. "Where's Harper? I want to make sure she's okay."
"She's right over there." Charlie points to where Harper is standing with her maid of honor and bridesmaids.
I make my way over to them, and Harper gives me a big smile as I approach. "Hi, Mrs. Agreste!" she says, giving me a hug.
"Hi, Harper." I reply, returning her embrace. "You look beautiful. Is everything okay?"
"Yes, everything's perfect." Harper says, nodding. "I'm just so excited for tomorrow."
"Me too." I say, smiling. "I can't wait to see you and Charlie get married."
"Thanks, Mrs. Agreste." Harper says, her eyes welling up with tears. "I'm so lucky to have you and Mr. Agreste as my future in-laws."
"Aw, we're lucky to have you too, Harper." I say, giving her a warm hug.
I turn my attention to Harper's maid of honor, Cecily, who is Charlie's twin sister. She gives me a big smile and I can see the resemblance between her and Charlie.
"Hey, Cecily." I say, giving her a hug. "I'm so happy you're part of the wedding."
"Me too, Mrs. Agreste." Cecily says, returning the hug. "I'm so excited for my brother and Harper."
"I know, me too." I say, looking at the bride and groom-to-be.
I then turn my attention to Harper's bridesmaids, Zoe, Michelle, Lillian and Natalie. They all give me warm smiles and I can see the bond between them and Harper.
"Hi, ladies." I say, giving them a smile. "It's so nice to meet you all. Harper has told me so much about you."
They all introduce themselves and we chat for a bit before the rehearsal starts. The wedding planner goes over the schedule for tomorrow and everyone practiced their roles. Charlie and Harper practiced their vows and their first dance.
As the rehearsal comes to an end, everyone gathers around for a group photo. Charlie and Harper stand in the middle, surrounded by their families and friends. I stand next to my husband, Adrien, and we both look at our son with pride and joy.
"Say cheese!" the photographer calls out, and everyone smiles for the camera.
As the sun sets and the stars begin to twinkle in the sky, I can't help but feel grateful for this moment. My son is getting married to a wonderful woman, and I get to be a part of it. It's a day I will never forget.
*dinner*
Adrien and I order some drinks and we all find a table to sit at. I look around at the group of people gathered here and I can't help but feel grateful. These are the people who have been there for Charlie and Harper every step of the way, and I know they'll continue to support them in their marriage.
As we're sitting there, Harper's bridesmaids join us at the table. There's Cecily, of course, as well as Charlie's 16-year-old sister Zoe and Harper's friends Michelle, Lillian, and Natalie.
"Hey guys, thanks for coming," Harper says, beaming.
"Of course, we wouldn't miss it," Cecily replies.
"Yeah, congratulations Harper and Charlie," Lillian adds.
The conversation flows easily as we all catch up and reminisce about the past. I can tell Harper and Charlie are both eager for tomorrow to finally arrive, and I can't say I blame them. It's been a long time coming, and I know they're both ready to start this next chapter of their lives together.
As the night goes on, I can't help but feel a sense of pride and joy. My son is getting married, and I know he's found his person in Harper. I may be a little biased, but I think they make a perfect couple.
I look around the table at all of the people who have come to support Harper and Charlie on their big day and I can't help but feel grateful. This is a night I'll never forget, and I know tomorrow will be even more special.
"Hey Mom, can I talk to you for a minute?" Charlie asks, appearing at my side.
"Of course, what's up?" I reply.
"I just wanted to say thank you," he says, giving me a hug. "For everything. I know I haven't always been the easiest kid to raise, but you've always been there for me. And I love you."
"I love you too, Charlie," I say, my voice choked with emotion. "You have no idea how proud I am of you."
We hug for a moment longer, and then Charlie goes back to join Harper. I watch as they laugh and smile together, and I know they're meant to be.
As the night winds down and people start to head home, I can't help but feel grateful for this moment. Tomorrow is going to be a big day, but tonight is all about celebrating the love between Harper and Charlie. And I couldn't be happier."Goodnight, Mom and Dad." Charlie says, giving us a hug. "See you tomorrow."
"Goodnight, honey." I say, smiling. "We love you."
As we walk back to our hotel room, I look back at the bonfire and the stars twinkling in the sky. I take a deep breath and let out a sigh of contentment. Today was a perfect day and tomorrow is going to be even better. I can't wait to see my son and Harper become husband and wife.
