I stand in the living room, my belly round and heavy as I watch the chaos unfold. It's 8 AM, and Taylor is half-heartedly banging a wooden block against the floor while Nico is crawling toward a pile of colorful diapers. Demi, our fiercely independent two-year-old, is barricaded behind a fortress of cushions, determined to protect her kingdom from intruders – namely her twin siblings.

"Charlie!" I call, peering into the adjoining room. "Did you check the closet for your hoodie?"

He pokes his head out from the hallway, hair tousled and eyes sleepy. "What? No. I thought I left it in the car. Seriously, where is it?"

"Charlie, come on! You have like ten other sweatshirts. Why are you only freaking out about the green one?"

"It's my favorite!" He grumbles and steps into the living room, tripping over a stray toy. "Ah! Why are there always toys everywhere?"

"Because we have three tiny tornadoes living with us," I reply, chuckling softly. "Did you look in the, I don't know, closet?"

"Yeah, yeah, I'll check," he sighs dramatically, his tone a teasing mix of annoyance and humor. "But it's probably not there."

Demi stands up from her cushion fort, crossing her arms indignantly. "Daddy, you lost your hoodie? You need it for your... your... work stuff!" She boosts her little chin, taking her role as the family protector very seriously.

"Exactly, Demi! I have important work stuff!" he says, grinning at her. "But that means I can't go to work without my favorite green hoodie."

"Green is your favorite?!" she gasps theatrically. "No way!"

I can't help but laugh at her abrupt surprise. "He told you that like a hundred times, sweet pea. Now, go help your dad find it!"

"Okay! I'll be the finder!" Demi charges off, her tiny feet pattering across the hardwood floor as she heads for the hallway.

"Okay, I'm heading to the closet!" Charlie calls after her, his voice edging on mock-seriousness. "All clear, Taylor and Nico—guard the fort!"

I sit down on the couch with my back against the cushions and rest my hands on my belly, feeling the gentle movements from the baby inside. "He's going to find it right where he left it, isn't he?" I tell myself quietly. I can see him pulling things out of the closet, searching futilely among the coats and shoes.

"Gotcha!" Demi appears in the closet doorway, her small hands on her hips, clearly done with the search. "It's right HERE!"

"Oh, you found it?" Charlie says, joy spreading across his face. "Where was it?"

Demi struts back into the room, clutching the green hoodie and beaming with pride. "In the closet where it lives!"

"Should've known," he laughs, rolling his eyes as he reaches for the hoodie. "Thanks, my little helper! I owe you a cookie."

"Yay! Cookies!" she squeals, bouncing on her toes.

Nico, who had been chewing on a toy, suddenly crawls over and clutches Charlie's leg, looking up with his wide, innocent eyes. "Dada?" he says, unsure if he's part of this cookie plan.

"Not for you just yet, little buddy," Charlie chuckles, squatting down to ruffle Nico's hair. "First, I have to be productive in my favorite hoodie."

"And then you'll be a cookie factory?" Demi jumps back into the conversation, arms waving as she instantly concocts a new game.

"Exactly! I'll bake cookies wearing my lucky hoodie, and the more productive I am, the more cookies we can eat!" He leans in to tickle Nico while throwing a wink at me.

"Okay, Mr. Cookie Factory," I say, leaning back with a smile, relishing these moments of chaos and laughter. "But you have to make sure I can have one too, once the baby comes!"

"In that case, I must wear the hoodie from now until you give birth!" he proclaims, an overdramatic flair creeping into his voice.

"Fine, but just remember who wears the pants around here," I reply teasingly, eyeing the mountain of toys scattered at my feet.

"Yeah, yeah..." he responds as he straightens, pulling the hoodie over his shirt.

And as the three little ones rally around him, my heart swells with warmth. In the whirlwind of little feet, the noise of playful laughter, and the everyday adventure of parenting, I wouldn't have it any other way.
