recuperating

I'm lying down on the couch, feeling a little under the weather. My husband, Charlie, is bustling around the living room, trying to get everyone ready. We have our hands full with five kids - Taylor and Nico, our one-year-old twins, Demi, our two-year-old daughter, and Sabrina and Victor, our six-month-old babies.

Charlie comes over to me, concern etched on his face. "Harps, are you okay? Do you need anything?"

"I'm fine," I assure him, giving him a small smile. "Just a little tired. Can you take care of the kids today?"

"Of course," he says, bending down to give me a quick kiss. "Don't worry about a thing. I've got this."

The twins, Taylor and Nico, are sitting in front of the TV, completely mesmerized by a children's show. Demi, our eldest, is sitting next to them, occasionally joining in with the songs and dances on the screen.

Sabrina and Victor, our two youngest, are on the floor, gurgling and cooing as they wrestle with each other. It's a sight to behold, seeing two little beings so full of life and energy.

Charlie starts to collect the toys that are scattered around the living room. "Alright, kiddos, time to clean up!" he says, in his best encouraging voice.

Demi jumps up and starts helping him, while Taylor and Nico continue to watch TV. Sabrina and Victor are still on the floor, completely oblivious to the chaos around them.

Charlie turns to me, "I'll get them all dressed and ready for the day. Why don't you take a little rest?"

"Thanks, Char," I say, grateful for his support. I close my eyes, feeling my body start to relax.

Just then, Sabrina lets out a loud cry, bringing me back to reality. Charlie quickly picks her up, soothing her with gentle words and a soft lullaby.

In that moment, I am reminded of how lucky I am. Lucky to have a husband who supports me, and lucky to have five beautiful children who fill my life with so much joy. Despite the chaos and the exhaustion, I wouldn't trade it for anything in the world.

Charlie comes over to me, holding a sleeping Sabrina. "Here, take her. I'll get the rest of them ready."

I smile and take Sabrina in my arms, feeling her soft breathing against my chest. "Thanks, Char," I whisper, as I drift off to sleep, surrounded by the love and comfort of my family.
