Kayla steals the show

I'm currently in the chaos of getting our family ready for dinner at Cecily and Noah's house. Charlie and I have our hands full with five kids – Taylor and Nico, our one-year-old twins, Demi, our two-year-old daughter, and the six-month-old Sabrina and Victor.

As I try to wrangle everyone into clothes and diapers, Charlie is attempting to keep the twins and Demi entertained with the TV. Meanwhile, Sabrina and Victor are in their own little world, babbling nonsense and wrestling with each other on the floor.

"Harper, are we almost ready to go?" Charlie calls out from the living room.

"Just about," I reply, struggling to get a squirming Sabrina into her onesie. "We just need to grab the diaper bag and we'll be good to go."

As I finish up with the babies, Demi toddles into the room, clutching her favorite stuffed animal. "Mommy, I ready!" she declares.

I smile and ruffle her hair. "That's great, sweetheart. Let's go see Aunt Cecily and Uncle Noah."

We finally make it out the door and into the car, with Charlie's parents, Adrien and Taylor Agreste, following behind us. I can't help but feel a sense of relief as we pull up to Cecily and Noah's house.

As we walk in, I'm greeted by the smell of Cecily's delicious cooking and the sound of laughter coming from the living room. Cecily and Noah are there, along with Charlie's parents and Noah's parents. And, to my dismay, Noah's snooty older sister Kayla and her fiancé Dylan are also present.

Kayla is in the middle of making an announcement, a smug look on her face. "Guess what, everyone? Dylan and I are expecting!"

There are exclamations of excitement and congratulations, but Kayla still manages to seem bitter about it. As everyone gathers around to congratulate her, she reaches for a glass of champagne, but thankfully Cecily stops her just in time.

"Kayla, you can't drink that," Cecily says, taking the glass from her hand. "You're pregnant."

Kayla rolls her eyes, but doesn't argue. I can't help but feel a twinge of annoyance at her attitude. Pregnancy is a blessing, not a burden.

As the night goes on, I do my best to ignore Kayla's snide comments and rude behavior. Despite her presence, I try to enjoy the evening and the time spent with our family and friends. After all, we all deserve a little break from the chaos of our everyday lives.
