It was a couple days after Fitz and I's movie date, and everyone was starting to settle in the ballroom where we were going to draw names for the secret Santa.
Once everyone was present, and my father stood on the stage and clapped his hands, quickly grabbing everyone's attention.
"As you all know, we gathered you all here to start a little game by the name of Secret Santa. To any of those who don't already know how this works; everyone will be given a piece of paper where you'll write down your name and then fold it. Once that part is finished, you'll put your paper in a bin and once everyone has completed doing so, everyone will take turns pulling a piece of paper from the bin, and open it. Once you do, make sure no one has seen it or in the future does, and once you see the name, that will be the person you have to get a gift for. You have one week to plan, retrieve, and wrap your gift, and the next Sunday, you will give your present, while also receiving a gift from your secret Santa. Understood?" Many nods came from the small audience. "Then let's begin."
They turned around and found small pieces of paper, and a cup full of freshly sharpened pencils beside it.
Everyone grabbed a paper and a pencil and spread out across the room as if we were doing a coloring activity in 2nd grade.
Everyone quickly finished up, and started forming a line. Edaline thoroughly mixed up all the papers and started with Sophie to start drawing names. She picked one up and turned around to open it. She showed no emotion on her face, but I knew she definitely didn't pick me, but I hope I get her.
It was finally my turn, and I covered the paper with my hand to block anyone else's view of looking at it and my shoulders dropped when I didn't see Sophie's name. Instead I got Noah.
Once everyone had a paper in their hands, Grady started to speak.
"Now that you have your person, make sure no one else sees, and start thinking about what to give to your person now. But if you're unsure about what to get your person, we'll go around the room and name three things we like."
Thank god. I didn't even know we had a Noah in the selection. I should probably interact with them more often.
We slowly but surely finished naming our three things we enjoy the most and I started to think about what to gift Noah. He likes pizza, video games, and basketball. Maybe it won't be that hard.
After we finished I found Sophie after.
"Do you have me?" Sophie immediately asked.
"Hello to you too princess. But unfortunately not. I'm assuming you also don't have me?" I say.
"No, I have Elijah, what about you?" She answered.
"Noah. Did you know we have a Noah in the selection?" I asked, and her jaw dropped in shock.
"Fitz, don't tell me you're serious." I stay silent. "You have to interact more, you're always with me."
"Is that a bad thing?"
"Well considering the fact you don't even know the person you got, yes. Maybe a small break would be nice." I shake my head.
"But they're so snobby and boring." She rolls her eyes.
"Make friends, looking at you I'd think you're sociable." I rolled my eyes.
"I am princess, when I'm not surrounded by many nobles."
"You know what, I expect you to name me all of the men in the selection by the day after tomorrow. Your social skills are going to be a big help." She said, heading upstairs to her room. I sigh, heading to my room. I laid on my bed and picked up a book. I could socialize later.
