We stayed in the cell for what seemed like an hour, and we heard keys jingling again. Our cell was locked, and another man entered it, and grabbed us both again. I would rather go to Gisela than do another punishment. He took us to a room where there were two bicycles and were wired up to some large fan in the ceiling.

"Sit down and start. When you start cycling it'll generate the fan and start the air conditioning in the place. If anyone cycles underneath 80 miles per hour at some point, you both will be punished."

"80 miles? That's so much!" The man shoved us and we sat on it waiting for his cue.

"You can begin." And we started. Getting to 80 miles per hour was much to do, but the fact it had to be consistent was even more tiring. Even though it's been a couple minutes, my thigh muscles hurt like I've been doing this for hours.

~

It's been I think at least half an hour, and I was sweating like crazy. Fitz and I have been keeping it consistent so far, but when the man noticed I was at 78, he grabbed my arm and cut a deep gash in it. He walked over to Fitz doing the same thing. Blood started to seep out, and I blinked back the tears. I already had several other scars which were burning me, and he added another one.

My breaths turned ragged as I gulped back the tears and continued.

By the end, we gained another five scars scattered all around our bodies. One on our neck, calves, shoulder, our palm, and knee. Once we headed back to the cell, I curled up into a ball in the corner, my hands shaking from the amount of pain that I was feeling. Fitz sat next to me, patting my hand gently, careful not to touch his scar.

I wanted to cry.

"It hurts so much." I whisper. I heard Fitz sigh and he propped his knees up, resting his head against the wall.

"I know my love. But we must wait. I only count down the hours until we'll be home."

Edaline's POV

"Grady seriously, we can't have a war with Everglen. Their son left as well, he could be kidnapped at this point. I know for a fact that an Everglenian did not kidnap Sophie."

"I don't care if their son left, it was them!"

"I've had enough of this. Get your head out of your ass and wake up! You want to believe that they kidnapped her, but I know that they didn't, and you're not caring enough about our daughter's kidnapping. Sophie has been gone for three days! And after two days of searching she has still yet to be found. So talk to me when you're actually going to care about her absence and do something about it." I say before heading out of the office, heading out for a walk in the palace and gardens.

I really needed to clear my head.

Fitz's POV

They gave us a tray of dinner, and it was a reminder that we didn't have much time left before we plan on escaping.

"You want me to take the first night shift?" I ask her.

"It doesn't matter," she answered.

"I'll take the first one," I say.

"Okay," she rested her back against my chest, and placed her hands on my thighs as I wrapped my arms around her waist.

"Tell me everything that happened the past month we haven't seen each other." I say.

"As I said in the letters, not much had happened. I missed you every day, I stayed in my room all day, and Linh and I worked together trying to find who sent my parents the recording, and she was right all along. I was just stupid enough to not listen."

"Don't say that. As I said, this whole situation was planned. You're not stupid, you're loyal." She shook her head, sighing.

"But I was so stubborn. Every single day, Linh would tell me, and I never believed her. I cared so much about our friendship, I guess I didn't want to believe it."

"That's how it can be at times princess. You try to always find the good in people, and that's one of the aspects I love about you."

"I hate it."

"Sweetheart, don't regulate negative self-talk. It's not a bad thing to look for the good in people, it means you have a kind heart." I kissed the top of her head, and she stayed silent.

"You really love that about me?" I smiled to myself.

"Princess I love everything about you, and that's only one of them. You're the most kind hearted person I know. I'm so lucky to have you Sophie Foster." Even though I couldn't see her, I already knew she was blushing. She turned around and kissed me, and even though it wasn't for long, it was sweet.

"I'm even luckier to have you, Fitz Vacker." She said, a smile on her face. She turned back around, holding my hand gently. "Now tell me what you did."

"It was really boring. My parents banned me from leaving the palace for a month, so they're going to be even more angry about it. But my sister came to my room every day to try to cheer me up, but it never really worked. My best friend, Keefe, came by a few times, but I think I was so boring, he didn't want to come anymore," Sophie giggled at that, crossing one leg over the other.

"I really hope our parents will continue to let us date after," she said.

"Me too. If we can convince our moms, maybe they can convince our dads afterwards," I say.

"That's going to take a while for Grady. He just hates seeing us together," I sighed, resting my head against the wall.

"I know my love. But they already separated us once, and I'm not going to allow them to do it again. It was the worst month of my life." She gave my hand a gentle squeeze, placing a soft kiss on the back of it.

"It was mine too darling. I never realized how much I needed you in my life until I wasn't able to see you."

"Same princess. You're a very important person in my life, and I wouldn't be able to handle being separated from you again." We stayed silent for a minute or two before I broke it. "We just need to focus on getting out of here. So try to sleep, okay?" She nodded her head.

"I will, I love you."

"I love you even more. Can I have a goodnight kiss?" She turned around, placing a soft kiss on my lips.

"Good night my love." She turned back around, and got comfortable once more.

After a while, I could hear her whispered breaths, indicating that she was asleep.

(Time Skip)

It's been a while since Sophie fell asleep, and I slept for a bit, but not much. We agreed to take turns, but I didn't want to wake her. Once I realized it's probably 1 am, I gently shook her awake, and she groaned.

"Sweetheart wake up," I say.

"Why, what time is it?" She said, her eyes still closed.

"It's time for us to get out of here. Come on princess." She finally opened her eyes, slowly but surely, but she got there. She stretched a bit before holding onto my hand to stand up. "Are you fully awake?" She nodded her head, yawning.

"A little bit." She stood for a bit in silence, thinking. "Wait but you never got to sleep," I shrug my shoulders, starting to pull the keys out from my pocket.

"I didn't want to wake you, you needed the extra rest."

"Fitz, that's not fair."

"Yes it is sweetheart, forget about that and focus on the important task at hand." She nodded her head, and as quietly as I could, I unlocked our cell door.

Grabbing onto Sophie's hand, we left.
