Edaline POV
We entered the room, finding Alden and Della already seated and ready.
"What is this all about?" Alden asked.
"Sophie's been kidnapped." I started.
"And you guys did it." The two were taken aback from his statement, and I groaned in embarrassment.
"We have nothing to do with the kidnapping of Sophie." Grady rolled his eyes.
"Sure. Talk all you want. It may not have been you guys, but I know it was an Everglenian."
"I know that it wasn't an Everglenian. Why would anyone want to kidnap your daughter?" Alden asked back.
"For plenty of reasons. But don't even try to deny it. We're announcing a war." The three of us were once again taken aback by his statement, even after we agreed that we wouldn't announce one.
"You can't be serious." Della responded.
"I'm serious."
"There's no good reason to start a war! Be reasonable here. We didn't kidnap Sophie!" Grady shook his head.
"This discussion is over." And then he left the room. Alden placed his fingers on his temple.
"Do you agree with this decision?" Della asked.
"Not at all."

Sophie's POV
I laid back against the wall, and I heard a pair of footsteps coming closer and closer. There was a figure standing in front of the cell door, and unlocked it.
My heart raced when they entered the cell and aggressively grabbed me by the shoulder, and we headed inside a room. I took a seat, and they stood guarded by my chair.
There was a large cushioned chair across the desk, and it spun around to reveal a blonde middle aged woman.
"So glad you finally arrived princess. How was the trip," she asked with a fake smile plastered on her face. I stayed silent. "Not much of a talker huh? Doesn't matter anyway. I'm so glad Marella brought you here today." My heart rate spiked.
"Marella?"
"Yes of course. Who else? My trusty spy was able to kidnap you at the perfect time. I was so excited for your arrival."
"Why am I here?" She sighed, looking up at the ceiling as if she were thinking and laid her eyes back on me, glaring.
"You know, you're so lucky to live such a luxurious life. But I want it too. I want fame, money, and expensive items just like anyone else. But unlike anyone else, I'm actually going to get it. And having you here is just step one."
"What are you going to do?"
"I have a feeling you'll have company tomorrow, and I hate repeating myself. So I'll have you wait for a bit. But don't be afraid to make yourself at home in that cell. We gave you princess treatment if anything." I rolled my eyes. "Take her."
I headed back to my cell, where I was once again aggressively thrown to the ground. The person locked it again, and left. I huddled in the corner of the room, and brought my knees to my chest.
This didn't seem like princess treatment.

Fitz's POV
My mom didn't come into my room with an envelope, and it was already past 6. Sophie always wrote back to me, there's no way she wouldn't.
I stood up and headed out of my room, heading to my parents office. Before knocking on the door, I heard their voices from inside, and I listened in.
"I don't know what I'm going to do," I heard dad's voice say from inside. "I can't risk having another war with Havenfield. We barely won the last time, and it was back when my father was still king."
My heart raced. Why in the world would Havenfield start a war?
"Sweetheart, you have to understand it from their point of view. If your daughter was kidnapped wouldn't you blame it on your enemy?" I froze. I continued to replay it in my head. Sophie was kidnapped?
"But we can't afford it. We spent so much money building our new buildings, we can't have a war. And I'm not going to have a war with something I didn't even do. We didn't kidnap Sophie."
"Well either way, we can't let Fitz know. It'll just break his heart, and maybe he'll do something he might regret."
"I know." Dad said. I stood back and headed back to my room. Sophie was kidnapped.
She can't be. How? I need to know, and I can't let her suffer and be scared alone. I need to find and save her. Before it's possibly too late.
(After dinner)
I heard a knock on the door and found my mom enter the room with an envelope.
"Hey sweetheart. Sorry the envelope came a bit late, I just found it." She said, handing it to me. She didn't say anything afterwards and left. After she closed the door, I trashed it and stood up.
This may be the one thing my parents were afraid of me doing, but screw it. I'm going to find and save Sophie.
I packed a bag, not knowing what to bring with me. I brought a flashlight, compass, money in case, more clothes, and a large pocket knife. I kept the knife inside my sweater pocket, and closed the bag and swung it over my shoulder.
It was dark enough outside to go, and I quickly wrote my parents a letter so they wouldn't be too confused when they find me gone.
I snuck out the window and made my journey out to find Sophie.
~
I feel like I've been walking for hours, and I probably have been. It was really dark out now, and currently I was in Havenfield. I've been walking up this enormous hill and I was about to walk into the woods.
As I continued to walk up, and enter the woods, my heart started to race. I moved my flashlight left and right, making sure I'm currently the only one in here.
Everytime I'd hear the bushes shuffle I'd freeze, and then let out a sigh of relief when I saw a group of squirrels. It was probably now 2 am or something, and my legs ache so bad. I've taken a few breaks so far, but I'm not going to take a break in the woods. I had to find Sophie.
I continued to walk, being very precautious with every step I took.
I headed higher up the hill, but because everything looks the same, it feels like I've made no progress.
I hear the bushes ruffle, but I see no squirrels this time. I put the flashlight on it, and suddenly I felt something cold against my mouth and nose.
And then everything turned black.
