It's been hours since Fitz and I said our goodbyes, and the more I thought about him, the more tears shed from my eyes.
I needed him. I craved him.
I changed into something different, and ignored every single knock I heard. I mustered enough energy to leave my room, and head to Fitz's where I locked the door behind me. It was empty, but I found a note on his desk. I walked over to it and smiled when I saw the "My Love" he wrote on the envelope.
I opened it, pulling the letter from inside, and in his neat cursive handwriting it wrote:
Dear princess,
If you're reading this right now, it means I've already left. I hope we had a proper goodbye. If not, this is my goodbye letter to you my love. The months that we've spent together, are ones I will always cherish. I'll miss you dearly, and I will never forget about you. And I'll never give up. Our goodbye is only temporary, love, because I know that we will meet again. But either way, I need you to know that my love is only meant for you. My heart is only yours, and will never be given to anyone else. I've loved every single second with you from our conversations in our rooms to our cuddles after our dates. I don't want you to cry, so please don't. I promise I'll find a way to try to communicate sweetheart, you have my word. Goodbye, princess.
Yours only,
Fitzy ❤️
P.S: I've left a few of my sweaters, since I know you love them, and your favorite cologne of mine. If you ever miss me, wear the ring. Love you bunches.
Tears rolled down my cheeks, ones that I didn't notice, but smiled when I saw Fitzy. Even though he hated the nickname, I still loved to say it to him. I kissed his name, because even though I couldn't kiss him, it was the closest that I could get.
I opened his closet and found a few of his sweaters hanging, and I happily took them off the hanger, as well as his favorite cologne off his dresser. Once I finished my shopping, I headed out his room, quietly closing the door behind me, and headed back upstairs to my room.
Once I closed the door behind me, the first thing I did was wear the ring. I traded out my current sweater with his, his scent reaching my nose. It felt like I was right next to him. But when I turned he wasn't.
Fitz's POV (Time Skip back when he arrives back at the palace.)
My heart raced when the doors opened to reveal my parents who had big smiles on their faces, but soon went away when they saw my tear-stained face.
"My baby, what's wrong?" Mom said, engulfing me in a hug, rubbing my back. I enjoyed the moment because I knew when they learn the news in a few minutes, she won't be able to even look at me.
"I'm afraid I have some news to share with you, and it's not all happy." The driver said, who had to stay to tell my parents everything that happened.
"Okay, come in." We took a seat in the large living room, my dad next to my mom, and me next to the driver. I wanted to be more than arm's length away after they learn everything. "What's wrong?"
"I'm afraid to tell you that your son participated in Princess Sophie's selection in Havenfield." Their eyes widened, and soon full of anger when they looked at me.
"You went to Havenfield?" Dad said, his teeth clenching.
"Honey, let the man explain everything," mom said, placing a hand on his clenched fist.
"When the king and queen of Havenfield received the information, they decided to cancel the entire selection, which is why Fitz is here. That's all I know and have to say, so thank you, but I'll be on my way." The driver stood up, and my mom gave him a pursed smile, while my dad didn't even bother to look.
