(Time Skip to a week)
It was a week after the ball, and I have yet to get a bodyguard, but my parents said that they plan on hiring one soon.
I woke up a bit late, but still took a nice warm shower. As I was brushing my hair, I heard a knock on the door, finding it to be a maid.
"Good morning Your Highness, your parents would like you to meet them in their study, and please be hasty, they said it was urgent." I nodded my head.
"Of course, thank you." My heart raced as I finished brushing my hair and thinking of the endless possibilities. My parents have never asked a maid to talk to me, and the fact she said it was urgent scared me too. I quickly finished up, and headed to their study, knocking on the door. I found it odd that I didn't see any of the selected walking around, but maybe they were all in the Men's Room.
I opened the door, finding my mom sitting down in a chair, and my father overlooking the large floor to ceiling window.
"Good morning mother and father. What is so urgent?" I asked.
"When were you going to tell us?" My father asked, not bothering to turn around, and my heart raced.
"What do you mean?" I asked.
"You know what I mean. When were you going to tell us about your little scandal with Fitz." My eyes widened, and my hands started shaking.
"Father-"
"No. Answer me. When were you going to tell us you snuck an Everglenian in your selection. And the prince at that." He turned around, his eyes full of anger.
"I can explain-" He put his hand up to stop me from speaking more.
"You know how disappointed we are with your actions? An Everglenian! What the hell were you thinking?!" I looked at Edaline, her eyes not meeting mine, but she stayed silent.
"I wasn't."
"Looks like you were, because if you weren't, you wouldn't have snuck him in your selection in the first place. And by the way, the selection has been canceled." My eyes widened.
"What?! Father, please you don't understand."
"No I do. But I need to know, how did you meet him in the first place? There's no use lying if you were going too." I sighed, playing with my fingers before speaking.
"A month or two before the selection started, I snuck out of the palace every night to see him. And I snuck him into the selection because I love him!" That seemed to hurt him even more. It was like poison to his ears. He clenched his fists.
"I don't care if you love him, he's our enemy!"
"How is Fitz our enemy?! He's done nothing to you or us! We've had him in our palace and he's done nothing wrong. So what enemy are you talking about?!"
"You don't talk back to me. But you're never going to see him again." My heart broke, and tears started to well up in my eyes.
"Grady, that's not fair!" He seemed flabbergasted when I used his name.
"What did you just call me? And after you lied, broke the law, and snuck behind our backs, you think we're just going to let you date him and let the selection go on like nothing happened?" I noticed Fitz at the beginning of the staircase outside, looking at the doors behind him, his face full of sadness. There's no way I was going to let him go without talking to him.
I bolted out of the study, with my father's shouts of protests behind me.
"Sophie Elizabeth Foster-Ruewen, get back here!!" He yelled throughout the halls. I continued to run, I had to try. I heard his footsteps behind me and headed down the stairs, running to the doors. Fitz was halfway down the stairs and I quickly went after him.
"Fitz!!" His head turned back fast as he heard his name, and a smile came to his face. I ran down to him, hugging him. "Fitz please don't go."
"I don't want to, princess. I love you so much." He cupped my cheeks, lowering his lips onto mine. We soon broke apart.
"Fitz what are we going to do?" He rubbed his thumb across my cheek.
"I don't know. But try. Please try to talk to your parents. I'll do my best from my side. By the way, I left you a few things in my room." I nodded my head.
"Why?"
"So that you never forget me." He answered, and I hastily kissed him.
"I'm never going to forget you Fitz, I love you." He smiled, a genuine one even through all the heartbreak.
"I love you too princess. More than you know." We heard my father's protests behind us, his footsteps becoming louder by the second. He kissed me, which was something I never wanted him to stop doing. It was filled with love, passion, and greed. "I'm sorry it has to end like this princess." Tears ran down my cheeks, as he gave me one last hand squeeze and headed down the rest of the stairs. And when he did, Grady finally came down.
As I saw Fitz leave, my heart broke even more than I would've liked, and I clenched my fists.
"I hate you!" I yelled, making my way up the stairs, leaving Grady. I ran to my room, slamming the door behind me as I laid on my bed and sobbed into my pillow. Fitz was gone.
I already missed him. I missed every little thing he did.
Like the way butterflies fluttered in my stomach when Fitz would just hold my hand or call me princess when I showed that I hated it when I secretly loved it. The way I could hear him talk, and never get enough. The way he held me when we cuddled and talked for hours and hours and still didn't finish. The way he smelled, and the fact I was very close to stealing his cologne. The way his hair felt through my fingers when we kissed. The way his lips felt like clouds when his met mine. The way I was always comfortable around him and acted the way I wanted without feeling embarrassed or without him judging me. The way he would make me smile and happy when I wasn't in the mood.
I could go on and on, because there were so many to list. Those were the effects of Fitz Vacker.
My first and only love.

Sooo kind of a sad chapter, they finally found out, and tore Sophitz apart. I kind of cried when writing this chapter, but it won't be the last they meet! The plot definitely gets more interesting at this point in the book, but not to worry there will be more plot twists in the future. But we made it to 25 chapters, and looking now, we're definitely making it to 30, and probably a lot more after, but then again who knows? Anyways thanks for reading, commenting, and voting! I'll see you in the next chapter! Byeeee!
