There are a few curse words in this chapter

(Time Skip back to the part when Fitz woke up after getting kidnapped)

Della's POV

I knocked on Fitz's door, hoping he actually believed the letter we'd given him. If he actually knew, he'd be heartbroken. When I didn't hear a response, I knocked again before opening the door, and finding an empty room.

My heart raced, as I ran into the room, checking the bathroom, closet, balcony, and finding no trace of him. The bed was made, and not even warm. I found a letter on his desk, which had written "Mom and Dad."

I opened it and skimmed it, my heart dropping.

Dear Mom and Dad,

I'm sorry for this, and hope you can forgive me. I know about Sophie's kidnapping, and about the fake letter mom gave me thinking it was from her. So I'm looking for her. I don't know how long it'll take, but I promise I will return alive. I know you may think I'm really stupid for doing this, and maybe I am, but I have no regrets. Love you.

Love, Fitz

Tears welled in my eyes. Fitz was putting himself in danger for Sophie.

I ran outside his room, heading into our office, and Alden looked up when I barged in.

"Dear, what's wrong?" He asked, standing up.

"Fitz ran away." His eyes widened, walking over to me, anger overcoming his face.

"What do you mean he ran away? Where?" I handed him the note, and he quickly read it. "He's putting his life in danger for Sophie?" He scrunched the paper, pacing around the room, his fingers rubbing his temples.

"What are we going to do? How do we know if he's not kidnapped or even dead at this point?"

"Call an emergency meeting with the guards." I nodded my head, heading to the phone and requesting an emergency meeting.

"We're also going to need to have a discussion with Grady and Edaline."

"I know dear. Call the requestor, and set up a meeting with them in an hour." I nodded my head, going to my desk, and plugging the numbers in. My hands shook as they did, and Alden walked up to me, placing a hand on my lower back.

"Don't worry darling, we'll find him," he kissed my cheek before heading out the room.

"Yes, I would like to set a meeting with Grady and Edaline in an hour.... Okay great." I set the phone down, and paced around the room, fidgeting
with my fingers as I did.

I saw Biana peep her head through the door, and a look of worry struck her face when she saw me pacing around the room.

"What's wrong mom?" She asked, entering.

"We're just dealing with a problem." She sat me down, interested.

"What type of problem?" I sighed, clasping my hands together.

"Your brother's missing." Her eyes widened.

"What? Why?" How?" She asked.

"Sophie got kidnapped a few days ago, and he found out and claimed he's going to go look for her. He must've snuck out of the palace last night." She stared at the ground in disbelief.

"I can't believe he would do something like that." I nodded my head, tears brimming my eyes. Who knows where he could be right now. Biana pulled me in a hug, rubbing my back.

"It's okay mom. We'll find him, okay? And Fitz is old and strong enough to take care of himself," I sniffed, breaking apart and grabbing a tissue. After blowing into it, I put it in the trash and used some hand sanitizer. I only hoped he was okay.
