Fem Y/N
The cool evening air whispered through the Hogwarts grounds, carrying the faint scent of autumn with it. Y/N stood at the edge of the Black Lake, her robes billowing gently in the breeze as she gazed out over the dark, glassy surface. The setting sun painted the sky in hues of orange and purple, casting a warm glow over the castle behind her.
As a professor of Ancient Runes, Y/N often found solace in the quiet moments between the chaos of teaching and the constant bustle of student life. But tonight, her mind was far from the intricate symbols and magical languages that usually occupied her thoughts. Instead, her focus was on the man she had married – Severus Snape.
Their relationship had always been an unlikely one, a fact that never failed to amuse Y/N. She, with her warm demeanour and patient nature, had somehow managed to break through the icy exterior of Hogwarts' most feared professor. It hadn't been easy, of course. Severus' past and the walls he'd built around himself had been formidable obstacles. But Y/N had seen beyond the stern façade, recognizing the depth of emotion and loyalty that lay beneath.
Lost in her thoughts, Y/N didn't hear the approaching footsteps until a familiar voice broke the silence.
"I thought I might find you here."
Y/N turned, a smile already forming on her lips as she met the dark eyes of her husband. Severus stood a few paces away, his black robes a stark contrast to the colourful sky behind him. His expression, usually so guarded around others, softened as he looked at her.
"Severus," Y/N said warmly, extending a hand toward him. "Come join me?"
He moved forward, his long fingers intertwining with hers as he came to stand beside her. For a moment, they simply stood together, watching the sun's final rays shimmer across the lake's surface.
"Another year begins," Severus murmured, his deep voice barely above a whisper. "Are you prepared for the onslaught of dunderheads we'll be tasked with educating?"
Y/N chuckled, leaning her head against his shoulder. "Always the optimist, aren't you, my love?" she teased gently. "I prefer to think of it as moulding young minds."
Severus scoffed, but Y/N felt the slight tremor of suppressed laughter in his chest. "You and your endless patience," he said, a note of admiration in his voice. "How you manage to maintain such positivity in the face of their constant ineptitude is beyond me."
"Perhaps some of it has rubbed off on you over the years," Y/N suggested, tilting her head to look up at him. "I've noticed you've been taking fewer points from Gryffindor lately."
Severus raised an eyebrow, the corner of his mouth twitching. "Slander and lies," he retorted, but there was no bite to his words. "I assure you, I am as strict as ever."
"Of course, dear," Y/N agreed, her eyes twinkling with mirth. "Your reputation as the terrifying dungeon bat remains intact."
In response, Severus pulled her closer, wrapping an arm around her waist. Y/N felt her breath catch as she found herself pressed against him, the warmth of his body a stark contrast to the cool evening air.
"Terrifying, am I?" Severus murmured, his face mere inches from hers.
"Absolutely petrifying," Y/N whispered back, her heart racing as she met his intense gaze.
For a moment, they stood frozen, the air between them charged with unspoken emotion. Then, slowly, deliberately, Severus leaned down and captured her lips with his own.
The kiss was gentle at first, a soft press of lips that spoke of familiarity and comfort. But as Y/N's arms wound around Severus' neck, pulling him closer, it deepened into something more passionate. Years of love, trust, and shared experiences poured into that kiss, leaving them both breathless when they finally parted.
