Continuation requested by RcMmCr! Fem Y/N.
Saturday arrived with the kind of perfect weather street racers dreamed of - cool morning air that would warm to a dry, clear day. Y/N was already awake at dawn, sitting on the edge of Mia's bed and lacing up her racing boots when she felt warm arms wrap around her from behind.
"You're up early," Mia murmured, pressing a sleepy kiss to Y/N's shoulder.
"Just doing my pre-race routine." Y/N turned to catch Mia's lips in a proper good-morning kiss. "Go back to sleep, babe. It's still early."
Mia shook her head, fully alert now. "Not a chance. I'm coming with you to check on your car."
Twenty minutes later, they were pulling up to Y/N's garage in Mia's NSX. The space was cluttered but organized, tools lined up precisely on pegboards, spare parts catalogued on sturdy shelves. In the centre sat Y/N's pride and joy - a midnight blue Nissan Silvia S15, modified to perfection over countless hours.
Y/N ran her hand along the car's smooth hood. "Ready for one more dance, beautiful?"
"Should I be jealous?" Mia teased, picking up a wrench and twirling it expertly.
"Never. She's fast, but she can't cook lasagna."
As they worked together checking every component of the car, the easy banter continued, but there was an underlying tension they couldn't quite shake. Canyon races were different from regular street races - more dangerous, with steeper consequences for mistakes.
"Talk me through the route again," Mia said, handing Y/N a socket wrench as she worked under the car.
"Two miles up Mountain Pass Road, hairpin turn at Devil's Edge, then back down through Thunder Valley," Y/N recited, her voice slightly muffled. "First one back to the starting line wins."
"And your competition?"
Y/N slid out from under the car, a smudge of grease on her cheek that Mia instinctively reached out to wipe away. "Johnny Tran. He's got a new Honda S2000, supposedly built for the mountains."
"Johnny's aggressive," Mia frowned. "He doesn't always race clean."
"I know." Y/N caught Mia's hand, pressing a kiss to her palm. "But I'm faster. And smarter."
Mia tried to smile, but worry still creased her brow. "Just remember your promise."
"Always come back to you," Y/N said softly. "I remember."

As the sun climbed higher, more racers and spectators began arriving at the mountain base. The atmosphere was electric, charged with anticipation and the rumble of high-performance engines. Dom's team was there in force - Letty giving Y/N's car an appraising look, Leon setting up the radio equipment to watch for cops, Jesse eagerly discussing technical specs with anyone who'd listen.
Dom himself approached as Y/N was doing her final checks. "You ready for this?" His deep voice carried the weight of experience.
"Born ready, big brother," Y/N grinned, using the nickname she'd adopted since becoming part of their extended family.
Dom's serious expression cracked into a smile. "Just remember-"
"I know, I know. It doesn't matter if you win by an inch or a mile."
"Winning's winning," they finished together, laughing.
But then Dom's expression grew serious again. "Watch yourself out there. Johnny's got something to prove."
Y/N nodded, appreciating the warning. As Dom moved away to talk to other racers, Mia approached, carrying Y/N's racing jacket.
"Here," she said, holding it out. "For luck."
