The moon hung low over Nevermore Academy, casting an ethereal glow across the gothic spires and gnarled trees of the campus. Enid Sinclair stood at the edge of the courtyard, her vibrant hair now a more subdued pastel pink, swaying gently in the autumn breeze. She took a deep breath, inhaling the familiar scents of decay and magic that permeated the air.

It had been five years since she'd graduated, and being back for the alumni weekend brought a whirlwind of emotions. Excitement, nostalgia, and a hint of nervousness swirled in her chest as she watched her fellow outcasts mingle and catch up.

"Enid? Enid Sinclair, is that you?"

The voice sent a jolt through her body, a voice she hadn't heard in years but would recognize anywhere. Enid turned, her eyes widening as they fell upon Y/N. He stood a few feet away, a warm smile on his face, looking older and more confident than she remembered.

"Y/N!" Enid exclaimed, her face lighting up. "Oh my gosh, it's so good to see you!"

Without hesitation, she bounded over and wrapped him in a tight hug. Y/N chuckled, returning the embrace with equal enthusiasm.

"It's great to see you too, Enid," he said, pulling back to look at her. "You look amazing. The hair's a bit different, but still very you."

Enid grinned, running a hand through her pastel locks. "Thanks! I decided to tone it down a bit for the 'real world,' but I couldn't give up the colour completely. You're looking pretty good yourself, Mr. Tall-Dark-and-Handsome."

Y/N laughed, a slight blush creeping across his cheeks. "Always the charmer, aren't you? So, how've you been? It's been way too long."

"Oh, you know, living the dream," Enid replied with a wink. "I've been working as a social media manager for a supernatural lifestyle brand. It's pretty fun, actually. What about you?"

"I'm a wildlife conservationist," Y/N said, his eyes sparkling with passion. "Focusing on wolf habitats, of course. Gotta look out for our distant cousins, right?" He smirked, hinting at his and Enid's werewolf genetics.

Enid's eyes lit up. "That's amazing, Y/N! I always knew you'd do something great with that big heart of yours."

A comfortable silence fell between them, filled with unspoken words and shared memories. Enid glanced around the courtyard, taking in the familiar sights.

"It's so weird being back here," she mused. "Everything looks the same, but it feels... different somehow."

Y/N nodded, following her gaze. "I know what you mean. It's like we're seeing it through new eyes." He paused, then added with a mischievous grin, "Want to take a walk? For old times' sake?"

Enid's heart skipped a beat. "I'd love to."

They set off across the grounds, their footsteps in sync as they strolled past the ancient trees and eerie statues. The sounds of the party faded behind them, replaced by the gentle rustling of leaves and the distant hooting of owls.

"Remember that time we snuck out to howl at the moon during our sophomore year?" Y/N asked, breaking the silence.

Enid burst out laughing. "Oh my god, yes! Principal Weems was so mad. I thought she was going to expel us on the spot."

"But it was worth it," Y/N said softly, his eyes meeting hers. "That was the night I finally managed my first full transformation."

"I remember," Enid said, her voice equally soft. "You were so beautiful, Y/N. All silver fur and golden eyes."
