As requested by GabeOwen6! Male Y/N

The gentle hum of machinery filled the air as Mei adjusted the settings on her climate control device. She glanced over her shoulder, a warm smile spreading across her face as she watched Y/N meticulously arranging a collection of colourful rocks on her workbench.

"Y/N, what do you think about grabbing some hot chocolate after I finish up here?" Mei asked, her voice light and cheerful.

Y/N looked up from his task, his eyes brightening at the mention of their favourite shared treat. "Hot chocolate sounds perfect. Can we go to that café near the park? The one with the blue awning?"

Mei nodded enthusiastically. "Of course! I love how they sprinkle cinnamon on top. It reminds me of winters back home."

"I like the consistency of their whipped cream," Y/N added, carefully placing another rock in his arrangement. "It's always the same - not too airy, not too dense."

Mei turned back to her work, but kept the conversation going. "You know, that's one of the things I admire about you, Y/N. You notice details that most people overlook."

Y/N paused, processing the compliment. "Thank you, Mei. I find comfort in observing patterns and consistencies. It helps me make sense of the world."

"And you help me see the world in new ways," Mei replied, her voice warm with affection. She made a final adjustment to her device and turned to face Y/N fully. "Okay, I think I'm done for now. Ready to head out?"

Y/N nodded, but his gaze lingered on his unfinished rock arrangement. "Almost. I just need to complete this pattern. It's important to finish what I've started."

Mei approached the workbench, genuinely interested. "Can you tell me about the pattern you're creating? It looks fascinating."

Y/N's eyes lit up at the opportunity to share his interest. "I'm arranging the rocks based on their geological composition and colour spectrum. See how the igneous rocks form this arc? And the sedimentary ones create a complementary curve here?"

Mei leaned in, studying the arrangement with newfound appreciation. "That's incredible, Y/N! It's like a beautiful, scientific rainbow."

"Exactly!" Y/N exclaimed, his enthusiasm palpable. "Each rock tells a story about the Earth's history. Like this one," he picked up a smooth, striped stone, "it's a banded iron formation. It formed billions of years ago when oxygen first started accumulating in our atmosphere."

Mei gently took the stone, turning it over in her hand. "It's amazing how something so small can contain so much history. Kind of like how my climate data can tell us stories about the past and help us predict the future."

Y/N nodded vigorously. "Yes, that's a perfect analogy! Your work with climate patterns is similar to my interest in rock formations. Both reveal the intricate systems that shape our world."

Mei placed the stone back in its designated spot, careful to align it exactly as Y/N had it. "You know, we make a great team. Your attention to detail and my big-picture thinking - we balance each other out."

Y/N smiled, a soft, genuine expression that he reserved for moments of true connection. "I agree. Our differences complement each other well."

As Y/N placed the final stone in his arrangement, Mei reached for her coat. "Ready for that hot chocolate now?"

"Yes, I'm ready," Y/N confirmed, standing up and straightening his shirt. "Can we take the route that passes by the old clock tower? I like hearing it chime on the hour."

Mei nodded, offering her hand to Y/N. "Of course! We have plenty of time to enjoy the walk."

Y/N hesitated for a moment before taking her hand, his touch gentle but secure. "Mei, can I ask you something?"
