Fred Jones was always the one with the plan. As the leader of Mystery Inc., he took great pride in devising intricate traps to catch the villains that constantly terrorized Crystal Cove. But lately, there was something—or rather, someone—who occupied his thoughts more than the mysteries he was so dedicated to solving. Her name was Y/N, one of his classmates at Crystal Cove High School, and she had unwittingly become the centre of his world.

Fred had never been good with emotions. Traps and mysteries? He could handle those with ease. But when it came to feelings, especially the feelings he had for Y/N, he found himself tongue-tied and awkward. She was smart, kind, and had a smile that made his heart race. Unfortunately, despite all his bravery when it came to facing monsters and ghouls, Fred hadn't yet mustered the courage to tell her how he felt.

That afternoon, the gang was back at Crystal Cove High, following up on reports of strange occurrences around the school. Lockers slamming shut on their own, eerie footsteps echoing in empty hallways, and a general sense of unease among the students had convinced the gang that another mystery was afoot. Fred, as always, was eager to catch the culprit. Little did he know that today's investigation would take a turn that even he couldn't have planned for.

As the sun began to set, casting long shadows across the school grounds, Fred and the gang arrived at Crystal Cove High. The halls were eerily quiet, save for the occasional creak of old floorboards. Fred's mind was already racing, thinking of the best places to set his traps.

"Alright, gang," Fred said, pulling out a map of the school. "We'll split up and cover more ground. I've set up some traps in the areas where the most activity has been reported. Shaggy and Scooby, you check the cafeteria. Velma, the library. Daphne, you're with me. Let's see if we can catch this ghost."

The gang nodded in agreement and went their separate ways, leaving Fred and Daphne to head toward the gymnasium. Fred had spent hours perfecting his traps, confident that they would catch the culprit red-handed. He was particularly proud of the one he'd set up near the old science lab, a place where strange sounds had been heard after hours.

As they walked down the dimly lit hallway, Fred's thoughts drifted to Y/N. He knew she had a late class that day, and he wondered if he might run into her. His heart beat a little faster at the thought, and he quickly pushed it aside, focusing on the task at hand.

"Fred, are you okay?" Daphne asked, noticing his distracted expression.

"Huh? Oh, yeah, just thinking about the trap near the science lab," Fred replied, forcing a smile. "You go check the gym. I'll make sure everything's set up correctly over there."

Daphne gave him a curious look but didn't press further. She nodded and headed off, leaving Fred alone in the hallway. Taking a deep breath, Fred turned and made his way to the science lab, his mind still lingering on Y/N.

As Fred approached the science lab, he noticed that the door was slightly ajar. A faint noise from inside made him pause. His instincts kicked in, and he crept forward, peeking into the room. To his surprise, he saw someone struggling in the air, caught in one of his carefully constructed traps. His heart dropped when he realized who it was.

"Y/N?" Fred gasped, rushing into the room.

Y/N was suspended a few feet off the ground, entangled in a net that had been triggered by the pressure-sensitive tiles Fred had placed near the door. She looked startled but not hurt. Fred quickly set to work, fumbling with the ropes and mechanisms to get her down.

"I'm so sorry! I didn't mean for you to get caught in this," Fred blurted out, his cheeks flushing red with embarrassment.

Y/N, despite the situation, couldn't help but smile at Fred's flustered state. She had always admired how seriously he took his role in the gang, even if it sometimes led to over-the-top situations like this one. Watching him panic as he tried to free her was oddly endearing.
