Chapter 96:
Comfort in Pain
Two months into her pregnancy, Draupadi found herself grappling with intense leg pain. The discomfort was unbearable, and despite her efforts to remain composed, the pain eventually brought tears to her eyes. She sat on the edge of her bed, her hands clutching her legs as the tears streamed down her cheeks.
The Pandavas, having noticed her distress, rushed to her side, their faces etched with concern. They couldn't bear to see her in such agony. Nakula, with a pained expression, gently approached Draupadi. Without hesitation, he knelt beside her and carefully lifted her head, placing it against his chest. His arms encircled her protectively, offering solace and support.
"Shh, it's okay," Nakula murmured softly, his voice soothing. "We're here with you. Just breathe, and we'll get through this together."
Yudhishthira, Bhima, Arjuna, and Sahadeva gathered around, their worry evident. Each of them tried to offer comfort in their own way—Yudhishthira reached out a comforting hand, Bhima stood close with a concerned look, Arjuna gently rubbed her back, and Sahadeva fetched a warm cloth to ease her pain.
Draupadi clung to Nakula, her tears slowly subsiding as she felt the warmth and security of his embrace. His steady heartbeat and gentle presence provided her with a sense of calm amid the pain. She took deep breaths, trying to focus on the comfort she received from him and the others.
As the minutes passed, Nakula continued to hold her tenderly, his own eyes reflecting the deep empathy he felt for her suffering. The other Pandavas quietly conversed among themselves, trying to find ways to alleviate her discomfort and ensure she felt supported.
Draupadi finally looked up at Nakula, her eyes still moist but now filled with gratitude. "Thank you," she whispered, her voice wavering. "I don't know what I would do without you."
Nakula smiled gently, brushing a strand of hair from her face. "You don't have to worry about that. We're all here for you, and we'll do whatever it takes to make you feel better."
With her pain somewhat alleviated by Nakula's care and the collective support of the Pandavas, Draupadi began to calm down. The loving presence of her husbands was a balm to her aching body and soul, reinforcing the strength of their bond and the depth of their commitment to one another.
