The sobs that had been building within her burst forth, tears streaming uncontrollably down her face. She touched her lips in shock, feeling the residue of Lucian's touch—a harsh reminder of her powerlessness. The lips that had once been kissed only by Noah now felt tainted and violated.

She remembered her first kiss with Noah—soft, tender, filled with love and promise. The memory was a sharp contrast to the grim reality she faced now.

Flashback

Under the canopy of a starlit sky, the amusement park was alive with a symphony of laughter and the kaleidoscope of lights. The Ferris wheel loomed in the distance, its lights sparkling like stars, while the scent of popcorn and cotton candy filled the air. August and Noah wandered through the park, their fingers intertwined, as if their touch was the key to unlocking a hidden magic.

The evening had been a series of cherished moments, carousel rides and games of chance, the kind that felt like they were spun from fairy tale threads. But as the night deepened, they found themselves at the base of the Ferris wheel, its glowing lights casting a golden halo around them.

Noah's eyes twinkled with mischief. "You know," he said, pulling August closer, "they say if you kiss at the top of the Ferris wheel, your wish comes true."

August looked up at him, her heart fluttering. "Is that so? And what would your wish be?"

Noah's smile was soft, almost shy. "To share this moment with you forever," he replied, his voice a gentle whisper. He guided her to the base of the wheel, where the ride attendant greeted them with a knowing smile. As they climbed into their gondola, the world seemed to slow down, each moment stretched into eternity.

The Ferris wheel began its slow ascent, carrying them higher and higher. The park's lights below began to blur into a mosaic of color, the distant sounds of laughter and music melding into a serene hush. August's breath caught in her throat as she looked at Noah, who was watching her with a gaze filled with wonder and affection.

At the top, the gondola reached its zenith, and the sky was an endless expanse of midnight blue, dotted with the first stars of the evening. Noah took August's hand, his touch warm and reassuring.

"Look," he said softly, gesturing to the fireworks beginning to bloom in the night sky. "It's like the universe is putting on a show just for us."

August's eyes widened as she watched the fireworks explode in a shower of colors, each burst painting the sky with brilliant hues. The lights reflected in Noah's eyes, making them sparkle with an almost magical intensity.

He turned to her, his voice tender, "There's a moment in every fairy tale where everything falls into place, where the world feels perfect and the kiss seals it all. Would you honor me to make this our moment August?"

August's heart raced, her pulse quickening as Noah's words sank in. The world around them seemed to fall away, leaving only the two of them bathed in the glow of the fireworks. Noah leaned in slowly, his breath mingling with hers, and his eyes searched hers for a fleeting moment that felt timeless.

As his lips brushed against hers, the kiss was gentle yet full of promise, like the first soft touch of morning light. The fireworks exploded above them, their brilliance mirrored in the tenderness of their kiss. It was a kiss that spoke of forever, of dreams and wishes intertwined.

August melted into the kiss, her hands finding their way to Noah's shoulders, pulling him closer.

The sensation of his lips on hers was like the softest whisper, a gentle caress that spoke of a love both profound and magical. In that fleeting, perfect moment, they were alone in their own fairy tale, a world where nothing else mattered but the magic they created together.

As they finally parted, the fireworks reached their crescendo, illuminating their faces with a radiant glow. Noah's smile was pure and sincere, and August's heart felt as if it had been wrapped in the warmest embrace.

"Thank you," she whispered, her voice trembling with emotion.

"For what?" Noah asked, his eyes filled with adoration.

"For making tonight the most beautiful fairy tale of all," August replied, her cheeks flushed with the warmth of their shared moment.

Noah's smile widened as he kissed her forehead softly. "The best part of this fairy tale is that it's just the beginning."

As they descended from the Ferris wheel, the world seemed to shimmer with possibility. The kiss had sealed their story in the most magical way, and the night sky was filled with stars and dreams, just like the ones they had wished upon.

Flashback ends

Desperation clawed at her as she stumbled into the washroom, her movements frantic. She turned on the faucet and splashed cold water onto her face, trying to erase the remnants of Lucian's touch. The cold water stung, but it didn't bring the relief she craved.

August stared at her reflection in the mirror, her eyes red and swollen. The image that looked back at her was a stark reminder of her situation—a victim caught in a vicious game of survival. The weight of her new reality pressed down on her shoulders, but a fierce resolve began to form in her chest.

"If I'm going down, then I'm taking them down with me," she thought fiercely, staring into her own eyes.

"If you aim at the devil, then make sure you hit him right."
