Yoongi had always been certain about his feelings for Gayeong. She was his first love. So being with Gayeong had always felt like the right thing. In Yoongi's mind, she was the one he was supposed to build his future with.

That was why he was heavily against the idea of marrying someone who wasn't his first love. But now, Yoongi found himself questioning what he thought he knew. Gayeong had never changed. She was still the same woman he had always known. It was Yoongi who was changing, and he hated that realization.

When he looked at Gayeong, he no longer felt the same rush of affection he once did. It wasn't that he suddenly stopped caring about Gayeong though.

It was never intentional.

Yoongi hadn't been looking for anything beyond what he had with Gayeong.

But Seo Mira.

He didn't want to admit it, not even to himself, but the truth was becoming harder to ignore.

And no matter how much he tried to push those feelings aside, to convince himself that they were meaningless, they persisted. That scared him more than anything.

He stood hesitantly in front of the guest bedroom, his knuckles hovering over the front door as he wrestled with his thoughts.

It wasn't like him to second-guess his actions, but lately, everything had felt off-balance.

Before he could make up his mind, Mira flung open the door, causing him to step back a bit. Mira stood there, surprised to find him on the other side.

"I..." Yoongi habitually rubbed the back of his neck in awkwardness, his eyes fixed on the floor, "I'm heading to work."

She merely hummed as a response, clearly uninterested as she began to close the door on him but Yoongi stopped her.

"I don't know what you're planning, but please, stop." Mira tightened her grip on the doorknob, trying to close the door in place but Yoongi just kept pushing it open further.

"Leave before I actually close it on your fingers." Mira threatened, causing Yoongi to withdraw his hand. Without another word, Mira slammed the door shut in his face.

Yoongi stood there blankly, staring at the closed door as if trying to process what had just happened. After a while, he quietly turned around and walked away.

"You're late." Hoseok glanced up at Yoongi as he stepped into the office. Yoongi didn't offer a response.

Hoseok studied him for a moment, raising an eyebrow as he took in the deep frown etched on Yoongi's face. It wasn't unusual for Yoongi to look tired. Even if he often appeared worn out when he was at work, he never arrived late. But this time, it wasn't just fatigue weighing on his features. It was something else.

"Gayeong?" Hoseok casually flipped through a stack of documents on his desk.

"Don't even start." Yoongi snapped immediately as he dropped onto the sofa with a heavy sigh.

"So it is about Gayeong." Hoseok scoffed, his eyes lingered on Yoongi's slumped shoulders, observing the way he seemed almost defeated, "And speaking of her, she was here this morning."

Yoongi furrowed his eyebrows in confusion, finally looking up at Hoseok who continued to click through the files on his computer.

"I saw her lashing out at one of our employees so I went over to see what was going on," Hoseok's fingers moved methodically over the keyboard as he recounted the event, "She kept demanding to see you. I told her you were still on your way. She waited for a bit but eventually stormed out."

Yoongi rubbed his face with both of his hands as if he were trying to physically wipe away the frustration.

"Did she not send you any messages or call you?" Hoseok watched closely as Yoongi shook his head and stood up, his expression unreadable.

"I left her at the restaurant last night."

"What?" Hoseok's eyes widened in shock. He immediately stopped what he was doing, giving Yoongi his full attention.

"Hoseok."

Hoseok stayed quiet as he waited for Yoongi to continue.

"What do you think of Miss Seo when you first saw her?" Yoongi turned slightly as he walked toward Hoseok's desk.

Hoseok let out a surprised hum, caught off guard by the question.

"Well... at the wedding, she looked very poise. Even if it was an arranged marriage, I'd say you were considered lucky. I could tell she's a humble and kindhearted woman. And I was right." Hoseok smiled as he described her.

"Why couldn't I see that...?" Yoongi's voice was softer now, almost as if he was speaking to himself rather than Hoseok.

"Because you only had eyes for Gayeong," Hoseok froze as he comprehended Yoongi's question, "Look, love isn't just about who you've known the longest or who you thought you'd spend your life with. It's about who makes you feel something real in the present moment. You've spent so much time seeing Gayeong as your dream woman that you never let yourself see what was right in front of you with Mira." Hoseok sighed, a small smile tugged at his lips.

"Sometimes, it takes a while to see what's right in front of you especially when you've been fixated on someone else for so long."

Yoongi slowly nodded, Hoseok's words sinking in as he reflected on them.

"I think...I'm starting to see it now."
