I tapped my foot impatiently as I waited for Shivaay to return.

"Don't worry, he'll be here soon," I turned around to face Daksh who was grinning at me.

I gave him a tight-lipped smile.

I still hadn't forgotten the events of the previous night.

Daksh hadn't been wrong, but his reply had rubbed me the wrong way.

And Shivaay's reaction——

I sighed.

I didn't know what to make of any of it.

One moment, he labelled me as his best friend.

And the next——

It was his kisses, fiery and passionate, ghosting over my skin until I was an utter mess, unable to keep myself upright or utilise all my senses properly.

It was those beautiful blue-green eyes, filled with contradictory softness and an insurmountable amount of intensity—— a look which made me feel like the most beautiful and appreciated person in the entire world.

The elevators opened up and the man who'd been plaguing my thoughts, emerged alongside my best friends.

Snap out of it, Annika!—— I chided myself. Everything he did was to ensure that Daksh didn't suspect a thing. The less people know about all of this being a drama, the less messy it'll get when you and Shivaay eventually 'break things off'.

No matter how much I wished to pretend it didn't matter to me, the idea of it made my heart twinge.

Stop being unrealistic!—— I sighed inaudibly. Teri kismat mein naa pyaar hain, aur na hii someone as perfect as Shivaay Singh Oberoi.

Shivaay looked at Vikram with an irritated frown as my friend smirked smugly, while Ritwik glanced around with a nervous smile on his face.

What was going on with those three?

"Who are those two?" I glanced at Daksh to see him frowning.

"My friends," I replied politely.

"Shivaay is fine with you having male friends?" Daksh's eyes widened.

"Yes," I said slowly, looking at him quizzically. "Why wouldn't he be?"

"He's a dude," Daksh leaned on one crutch, "And they're dudes too."
