"Goodnight," I smiled at him, as I handed him back the blazer he'd let me borrow. "I had a wonderful time tonight," I whispered softly, looking into his cerulean eyes.

He looked at me with a small smile, before nodding once. "I'm glad," he twisted his wristwatch, twice, before clearing his throat. "I'm sorry, I've not been engaging with you," he rubbed the back of his neck, as he glanced at me, "I've been preoccupied, thinking about," he paused, "the meetings I'll need to attend tomorrow."

I blinked.

Oh.

I certainly hadn't been expecting that.

"I thought it was due to the——" I breathed out a sigh of relief, only to be interrupted by him.

"NO!" His voice was rushed, as he shook his head. "I mean," he sighed, "It has nothing to do with you. Or what happened," he hesitated, "earlier. I just have a lot on my plate," he shrugged.

"Alright," I said, nodding slowly.

He avoided looking at me, as he hummed.

"I shall take your leave now," he tilted his head, nodding once. "Enjoy your day." His eyes widened. "I mean, enjoy your evening," his eyebrows furrowed, "No. Goodnight."

I bit the insides of my cheeks to stop from myself laughing out loud.

God, he looked adorable!

No!—— I chided myself, as my eyes widened for a fraction of a second—— cheapdi kahin ka. Stop thinking as such.

I cleared my throat, watching as he blinked, before shaking his head.

"I'll take your leave," he tilted his head. "Goodnight, Annika."

Why did my name sound so good coming from his lips?

Annika, focus!

"Right," I rubbed my hands up and down my arms, "Goodnight."

He pivoted on his heels before walking towards the elevator. As he stepped inside, he turned around to face me, blinking once before a small smile curved up one corner of his lips, before the e doors closed between us.

I leaned against the wall, a silly smile on my face, as I felt my heart beating furiously in my ribcage.

Why was I behaving like a lovesick teenager?
