TWENTY SIX - JOURNEY
As they got closer to the station Grace spoke "don't speak OK? You can talk to me when we're on the train but don't ask any questions in the station or talk, alright?" They both nodded anxiously "OK..."
A few minutes later they got to the station, it was 3.40 so they headed straight to the ticket desk. Grace was relieved to find out the twins could travel for for free as they were under 11 and her ticket wasn't too pricey as she was still classed as a child.
"Bit early to be travelling alone at this time... especially with the little 2, are you OK?" The man at the desk frowned, obviously concerned "oh, yeah, just off to see family, this time was the cheapest ticket we could get, our Mum has just dropped us off outside" she looked at Poppy, knowing she was desperate to speak, but she squeezed her hand gently to remind her not to. "Ah, I see. Well enjoy your trip, stay together" the man said "we will, thank you" Grace smiled, relieved that there wasn't too many questions asked and that neither of the twins had spoken and given anything away.

They boarded the train and sat down "can we talk now?" Harry whispered, making Grace laugh a little "yes" she nodded "are we really going back to Jack and Rose?" "Hopefully" Grace smiled "will they want us back?" Poppy asked and Grace's stomach tied itself in knots, what is Poppy was right, what if Jack and Rose didn't want them? She sat frozen for a minute, thinking, before the train pulled away. They had no choice but to find out now.
—
Time passed and the 3 of them had slept on and off the whole journey, Grace's arms wrapped around the twins the whole time. They'd complained about being bored a few times but Grace had managed to distract them by telling them stories.
Grace sat there as the twins slept on her, she knew Lucy would have noticed they were gone by now. She wondered if she would be bothered, whether she would report it or just live happily with Sam and pretend the children never existed.
She was snapped out of her thoughts as they pulled in to Chippewa Falls, she shook the twins gently gently "Harry... Poppy" she said quietly "we're here... wake up" they yawned and rubbed their eyes "come on, put your bags on" she said, helping them put them on to their backs and grabbing her bag before holding out her hands for them.
They disembarked the train and made it out of the station. "Right, let's go" she said, heading up the hill with them.
