THIRTY SIX - SURPRISES
Jack woke Rose up early, before any of the kids were awake. She groaned as he shook her gently "stop itttt, it's too early" she said rolling over, making him laugh "I just wanted to tell you I'm going to go to the town hall to collect the papers, I'll be back later" he kissed her head, she just nodded in response and pulled the cover closer to her face.

"Where's Dad?" Grace asked as Rose sat down at the table with her, Poppy and Harry "he's just nipped out. He shouldn't be too long" she smiled.
"Can we go to the park today?" Harry asked "oh, I don't know darling, me and Daddy are going to be quite busy today... we've got a lot to do" she said feeling guilty, but knowing it was important to fill out the adoption forms and have the Doctor come and check her over. 'The Doctor' she thought, knowing the park would be the perfect opportunity to get the 3 of them out the house "hey, I know, Grace, why don't you take them? Then maybe you could take them out for some lunch? Me and Jack will pay of course, and you don't have to if you don't want to" Rose said, silently praying that Grace would take her up on the offer. Grace didn't think much of it and shrugged, knowing it would be nice to spend some time with the twins on her own. She was thrilled she no longer had to be their parent figure, but did sometimes miss it being just the 3 of them "yeah, that sounds nice, thank you" she smiled just as Jack walked in.
"Hey" he smiled at Rose "good morning" he smiled at the kids before going over and kissing their heads. "Grace is going to take the twins to the park and out for lunch in a while" Rose said with a look, hoping he would catch on as to why. "That'll be nice" he smiled at Grace.

Later on, once the twins and Grace had left the house, Jack went to fetch the Doctor. A few minutes later, he arrived and started to examine Rose. "I hate this every time..." She complains, "I know, you're doing good though." Jack smiles to try and lighten the mood.
"Well congratulations Mrs Dawson, you're expecting!" the doctor said as he began to put stuff back in his brief case "what?" Rose said, struggling to believe what was being said "you're with child" the Doctor repeated. Suddenly, a huge grin appeared on Rose and Jack's face in unison "thank you... how far along am I?" She asked "around 11 weeks" the doctor nodded "wonderful! Thank you Doctor!" Jack grinned "you're more than welcome. I'll be back when you get to around 20 weeks to check how you're getting on. Take care" "thank you" she smiled at the Doctor and watched as he left the room, Jack showing him out before returning.
"Oh my God" he laughed, shocked yet clearly over the moon "I know" she grinned "I can't believe it..." she smiled. Just as she went to continue they heard the door open "that will be the kids" he said quietly "we can't tell them, not yet" Rose whispered in response and he just nodded and helped her off the bed, kissing her before they walked downstairs where the 3 of them were talking their coats off. "Hey, did you have fun?" Jack asked with a smile "yes!" The twins grinned "yes, thank you" Grace agreed.

Once the twins were in bed and Grace had gone to her room for the evening, Jack and Rose sat down stairs filling out the adoption forms, thrilled to be able to put their surname as Dawson now. "I can't believe we'll really be their mum and dad when we've done this" Jack grinned "we've always been their mum and dad..." Rose said, knowing that since the day the children arrived, they had acted as parental figures "I know... I mean officially" he replied, Rose nodding in response. They were too engrossed in conversation to hear Grace coming down the stairs, upon hearing their conversation, she stopped to eavesdrop.
"So, do you want a boy or a girl?" Jack asked, referring to the pregnancy. "I don't mind, a boy would be nice for Harry I guess, but a girl would be equally as lovely... what about you?" "I'm happy with either" he smiled "how do you think the twins will find becoming a big brother and sister?" He asked "hopefully they'll love it..." Rose said before Grace walked in "you're pregnant?" She asked. Rose froze, she knew her and Jack would tell her before they told the twins, but didn't think it would be yet "I- erm-" she stuttered "it's either a yes or a no" Grace replied "yes..." "guessing you didn't know when you decided to adopt us?" "No..." Rose replied "so you don't want us now?" "What?" Jack frowned confused "of course we want you? You're our children, Grace..." "yes, but this baby will really be yours, you're bound to love it more" she shrugged "no, no we're not... we'll love you all the same" Jack said adamantly "look Grace, we know we haven't raised you all your lives, but as far as we're concerned, you are our first born and eldest child, the twins are still our twins, this baby will just add to that" "do you promise? Because if you don't think you'll love us the same, or you're not 100% sure you want us anymore then say now, so me and the twins can go elsewhere. Loosing you once was bad enough... I won't let them go through that again..." "neither will we... the 3 of you aren't going anywhere... this will always be your home, do you understand?" Rose said firmly, to which Grace nodded a little "we wouldn't have filled these out if we had any doubts" Jack said, holding out the adoption papers. Grace took them and a grin appeared as she realised what they were "Dawson..." she laughed a little, shocked it was really happening "you really want us?" "More than anything in the world darling" he smiled. "come here" Rose held her arms out, prompting Grace to go over to her, she hugged Grace tightly, to which Jack joined in.
