"Trevor!" I squealed in excitement, my feet having a mind of their own as I darted across the parking lot.

He met me halfway, grinning from ear to ear as I threw myself in his arms and flung my arms around his neck. He wrapped his arms around my waist and spun me around, our laughter mingling in the air. Pure joy coursed through me when I realized he was actually here. It had been far too long since I've seen any of my friends from back home, so I was plum giddy with excitement as he set me to my feet.

"What are you doing here?! I wasn't expecting you for weeks." I blurted out joyfully, beaming up at him.

I knew he had planned on coming down for a visit, but I hadn't expected him to show up so soon. Granted, he didn't specify a specific date, so perhaps the time just got away from me.

He chuckled, his hands lingering for a bit longer than necessary on my waist before they dropped to his sides. "Elle, it's been weeks."

"Has it?" I blinked rapidly, furrowing my brows.

He snickered once again, shaking his head in amusement. "Did you get my flowers?"

My mouth fell open. "You sent those?"

He breathed out a laugh, smiling. "Of course. Who else?"

"You're Al?" I quirked a brow.

He placed a hand over his chest, as though he had been stabbed. His face twisted into one of faux pain as he joked, "Honestly, Elle. I'm insulted. You don't remember?"

I wasn't following. "Remember what?"

Shaking his head in disappointment, he said, "How I asked you to be my Valentine."

That's when it hit me.

"Knock, knock," Trevor said, falling in step with me as we walked through the courtyard.

"Who's there?" I quirked a brow at him.

"Al." He was clearly fighting back a smile.

I breathed out a laugh. "Al who?"

He could no longer stop a cheeky grin from spreading across his face, highlighting his dimples. "Al be your Valentine if you'll be mine."

I couldn't help but giggle. "That's a cute one."

"You're a cute one." He winked.

I felt a blush rush to my cheeks. "You're on a roll today."

He chuckled, gently nudging me with his elbow. "Seriously, though. Be my Valentine?"

Things had been a bit awkward between us since our unexpected kiss on Christmas. I liked Trevor, but I knew I wasn't ready for anything serious. He wasn't either, of course. Our hearts belonged to other people. Our unrequited love was something we bonded over.
