Edward's face broke out into a crooked grin, his eyes glinting mischievously before, in a speed indecipherable to my eyes, he swooped me up in his arms and held me tightly against his chest. My heartrate skyrocketed at the gesture.
Bridal style it is then...
The coolness of his body seeping through his clothes caused warmth to spread throughout my entire body. When I wrapped my arms around his neck, a crooked grin flitted to his lips as he stared down at me.
I felt my face heating up as his grin continued to grow, his hold tightening on me before he leapt from the window with a gracefulness that would make a ballerina cry, landing on the ground with no effort and taking off like a bullet through the woods.
My heart was soaring as he effortlessly glided through the trees. It felt as though we were floating, the scenery passing by us in blurs. It was exhilarating; a feeling I could never get used to.
It seemed like mere seconds had passed when he came to a sudden stop and gingerly set me to my feet, his hands hovering inches from my waist as though he was preparing for my legs to give out.
"You okay?" He asked in a soft voice, his golden eyes scouring my face.
My mouth ran dry under his intent gaze.
Blinking rapidly, I managed to nod and squeak out, "Yeah. I'm fine."
He continued looking me over for a tense minute before his smile returned in full force.
"..Great!" He beamed. "Then follow me. We're almost there."
I furrowed my brows in confusion at his giddy expression, breathing out an amused chuckle as he practically skipped towards a break in the thick foliage. As I trailed behind him, I could make out the sound of running water in the distance.
Just as we made it to another break in the trees, Edward spun around and walked towards me, leaving three feet of space between us. The distance felt vast yet all-consuming, my body heating up due to the sudden proximity. I was struggling against the impulse to step back as he offered me a soft smile.
His golden eyes danced as he extended his hand towards me. Knitting my brows, I stared at his outstretched palm before hesitantly meeting his gaze, a blush rushing to my cheeks.
Edward breathed an airy laugh and said, "Come on, Elliana."
I pulled my lower lip between my teeth, my stomach rolling as I slowly placed my hand in his. The moment I did, my breath hitched, the strangest sensation coursing through me. When he gently wrapped his hand around mine, my palm felt like it was on fire.
My stomach did a flip-flop before I forced myself to get a grip. I could feel his eyes studying me, but I couldn't bring myself to meet his gaze.
He chuckled quietly to himself before giving my hand a gentle squeeze and leading me through the trees, passing through an alcove compiled of shrubbery and vines. He kept a slow pace, ensuring that my short legs could keep up with his long strides.
