The music blaring through the speakers echoed throughout the gym, mingling with the sound of laughter as bodies swayed to the beat. Trevor and I were lingering near the punch bowl, watching as the Muggles danced it up. Amy had managed to drag Lonnie to the middle of the dance floor, but with 'Cupid's Brew' running through his veins, I was certain it didn't take all that much convincing on her part.

Trevor and I were basically just goofing off, taking turns spinning each other around in circles. This dance was nothing like the Yule Ball, so we didn't have a clue what we were doing.

His blue eyes danced with mirth as he looked me over, grinning from ear to ear. "You know.. You look really pretty tonight."

I returned his smile in full force, twirling around him. "Thanks. You don't look so bad yourself."

He chuckled at that, making a show of adjusting his bright red tie. "Yeah, I do look quite dashing, don't I?"

I playfully rolled my eyes, joking, "I forgot how big your head is."

He laughed once more, placing a hand over his heart and feigning offense. "My head is perfectly average, thank you very much."

I breathed out a laugh, coming to a standstill as he took a sip of the Cupid's Brew in his hand.

He frowned at the cup before saying, "..Looks like I need more punch."

When he disappeared into the crowd, I immediately started searching the room for a familiar pair of honey-gold eyes, certain that he wasn't too far away. How I knew that; I wasn't sure.

As if on cue, the low-timbre sound of his voice came from behind me.

"Elliana," Edward softly spoke my name, making his presence known as he walked in front of me and met my gaze, nodding towards the side-entrance that leads outside. "Care for some fresh air?"

Nodding, I pulled a slow smile. "Yeah, I could go for some fresh air."

He beamed at me, exposing his perfectly white teeth as we made our way outside. The night air was warm and fragrant, carrying the faint scent of water and the sweetness of flowers. But, of course, Edward's signature scent overpowered all others— His woodsy scent left me feeling a bit lightheaded.

When we rounded the corner, a gasp escaped me as I took note of the lit-up gazebo. It looked almost magical, being bathed in a warm glow from the string lights overhead that twinkled like stars against the dark backdrop of the night sky. Candles flickered from small holders on either side of the gazebo entrance, casting a warm glow on the cobblestone path.

There was a small fountain in front of the gazebo, the sound of trickling water mixing with the gentle chirping of crickets and the soft music blaring through a speaker that was hidden in the bushes.
