Green hedges towered over me, caging me in. My feet seemed to have a mind of their own as they led me down a winding path. The surroundings were familiar. I was in a maze. Immediately, I was reminded of the Triwizard Tournament. The third and final task.

A looming darkness hovered over me, yet I wasn't afraid. I simply meandered my way through the maze without a second thought, as though I subconsciously knew exactly where I was going. All of a sudden, I caught sight of a bright light in the distance. A smile flitted to my lips as I took off like a bullet towards the light with no hesitation whatsoever.

The closer I got to the light, the lighter I felt. With every step, the darkness encompassing me subsided bit by bit before I was completely encased in the blinding glow, bathed in the warm light from head to toe. I closed my eyes, allowing the warmth to seep into the very depths of my soul.

Then, when I opened my eyes, the light was gone, but the warmth remained. I was no longer in the maze. Instead, I found myself in front of the Black Lake— A welcome, comforting place. I scanned the surroundings, a sense of nostalgia gripping me as I stared at the castle in the distance. Hogwarts.

My breath was stolen from me when I caught sight of a familiar head full of bronze-colored hair. He was sitting on a boulder, staring out at the lake with his back towards me. Cedric.

Immediately, I made my way towards him and sat down on the boulder beside him. His grey eyes locked with mine, a bright smile spreading across his face.

"Elliana," he greeted me, his eyes dancing as he pulled me into an embrace.

I was quick to return the embrace, wrapping my arms around him. His hug was warm and comforting, same as it's always been. It felt like it had been ages since I've had one of his famous hugs. Cedric always did give the best hugs.

"...I knew you'd come," he whispered softly as he pulled back, a forlorn smile on his lips. "..When you were ready.."

I furrowed my brows. "Ready for what?"

His lips twitched at the corners, his smile falling, though his eyes still danced. "..To let me go..."

My heart felt like lead as the weight of his words washed over me.

"Let you go?" I whispered, the words lodging in my throat.

He nodded once, his voice solemn. "It's time."

All I could do was stare at him, my mouth hanging open, those two words ringing in my head. I reached out and grabbed his hand, giving it a squeeze as my heart clenched in my chest.

"..I miss you.." I whispered, tears filling my eyes.

His silver orbs glazed over as he held my watery gaze, reaching out and cupping my cheek with his palm.
