||Elliana's P.O.V.||
I leaned against the porch railing next to Edward, waiting for Trevor and Lonnie to arrive and trying to keep my heart rate at an acceptable level as I stared at the corsage on my wrist.
Edward was quite possibly the most considerate, thoughtful person I had ever met. He had gone out of his way to ensure I had a corsage just so I wouldn't feel 'left out'. My heart warmed in my chest, my lips tugging into a smile as I placed a petal between my thumb and forefinger.
As we stood there, side by side, there was no denying the electrical hum surging between us, and I couldn't help but wonder if he felt it too. I mentally chastised myself for thinking such thoughts. Obviously, it was strictly one-sided. Edward was a centurion vampire, for crying out loud. He had already experienced the 'love of his existence'. What I was feeling was yet another 'vampiric trait', no doubt. Yeah, that's it. There I go sounding like a broken record again...
Despite my best efforts, my heart skipped a beat when I felt his eyes shift towards me, studying my face with intent.
"Elliana..." He trailed off in the softest of voices, inhaling a deep breath before continuing, "Listen, I-"
A loud 'cracking' sound rang through the air, signaling the arrival of Trevor and Lonnie, causing Edward to pause mid-sentence as my two friends appeared in the tree-line and made their way towards us.
"Elle!" Lonnie beamed, practically skipping in our direction, chipper as ever. "You look like a million bucks!"
He and Trevor joined us on the porch. Lonnie furrowed his brows at Edward before offering him a friendly smile. Trevor, however, appeared entirely unenthused by Edward's presence, peering at him with narrowed eyes.
"Thanks, Lonnie," I spoke up, meeting his gaze before glancing at Trevor and clearing my throat. "Um. I want you guys to officially meet my.. friend-" I gestured towards Edward, forcing a smile as I continued, "-Edward."
Edward looked between the three of us with wide, golden eyes, forcing a grin to stretch across his face that was short-lived.
Placing my hand on Lonnie's shoulder, I turned to Edward and said, "Edward, this is Lonnie. And..." Despite him having already met Trevor, he had never been properly introduced, so I chose to remedy that. "...This is Trevor."
After the introductions, I held my breath, on pins and needles as I waited for one of them to break the silence. Edward met my gaze, his ember eyes scouring my face before looking at Lonnie, a polite smile sliding onto his lips as he extended his hand towards the wizard.
"It's a pleasure to make your acquaintance, Lonnie. Any friend of Elliana's is a friend of mine," he spoke in that velvet voice of his.
Lonnie pursed his lips as he stared at Edward's outstretched hand, glancing at me and Trevor before a smile spread across his features, placing his hand in Edward's for a handshake.
