"You say fairies frequent gardens?" Esme asked me, wearing a motherly smile as she tended to her tulips. "I've yet to see one."
Edward was making his daily rounds in Kingsport and Stitchers Bend, so I took that as an opportunity to spend some time with his adoptive mother. She was one of the kindest, most genuine people I've ever met, so it was incredibly easy to get along with her. She had 'Hufflepuff' written all over her.
Two days had passed since my and Edward's first 'date', and we continued to grow closer. Any chance he got, he asked me questions, wanting to learn everything he could about me. My favorite color. Foods. Songs. My dreams and aspirations. You name it, he's asked it. It was a constant game of twenty games, but I didn't mind. I found myself questioning him just as much, desperate to learn everything there was about him.
Our kisses continued to be sweet and gentle. Hesitant. But I hoped to change that. I was starting to become more confident with myself, so I hoped to work up the courage to be 'bolder' with him. I knew Edward was too much of a gentleman to do so on his own, so I was going to have to take matters into my own hands.
Over the past two days, I still met up with Jay for dueling practice, and I could already see some improvement in my skills. He wasn't just teaching me how to duel— He was teaching me self-defense and discipline. Physically and mentally. He had me sprinting laps around the arena. Doing push-ups. Pull-ups. Any form of physical torture you could think of, I did it. My entire body ached after each training session and now was no exception.
I fought back a grimace as I knelt beside Esme and used my wand to sift the soil, offering her a smile as she spoke of fairies.
"Well, would you like to see one now?" I asked her, quirking a brow.
Her eyes lit up as she nodded. "Oh, yes. I'd just love to!"
My smile grew as I turned towards a small rain puddle and used my wand to transfigure it into a looking glass, earning a perplexed look from Esme. But before she could so much as speak, a fairy emerged from the leaves, appearing out of nowhere and fluttering towards the transfigured mirror where the tiny creature proceeded to admire her reflection.
Esme's mouth fell open before a glorious smile spread across her face, clasping her hands together in pure joy. "How did you..?"
I chuckled airily, gesturing towards the looking glass and shrugging as I explained, "Fairies are vain creatures."

"How'd it go?" I asked Edward as he walked into his living room later that day.
Alice and I were stretched out on the pristine couch, flipping through the pages of Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them. She was full of questions, her eyes lighting up like a Christmas tree with each answer she was given.
