The astronomy tower was warmer now, the moon not being enough to cool the night down. It cast a shadowy glow over the castle, especially that high up in the sky. The air blew but not enough to give any kind of chill.

As soon as Blaise left his mother's home, a weight had been lifted. It wasn't because of him, but more so because of the man that was there, trying to weasel his way into their family when he had no reason to.

He approached the astronomy tower, his chest heavy and ready to find some solace in the fresh air and open views. He got close to the ledge, leaning against the railing and letting his body rest for a few seconds before he stood straight and took a deep breath.

"Why is it that I always meet you here?" A voice that now he knew was Kali's spoke from behind him.

He turned around slowly, his old mood washed away and being replaced by comfort. "It's fate working in your favor, love." He replied, a sweet smirk on his lips.

She smiled at him and sat down in one of the stone hedges that were close to the edge. She hadn't been able to sleep, so the astronomy tower was the perfect place to waste her time until her body decided it was tired. After studying all day she still had a lot of energy left.

They stayed quiet for a few seconds, just looking at each other. Then, she spoke up. "How was your mum's house?" She asked, her eyes wide to see in the darkness. "Draco told me you were over there."

Blaise didn't know how to answer. He didn't have the worst time, but it wasn't fun, so he settled in an inbetween. "It's complicated." He muttered.

Kali looked around and shrugged. "I have time." She said, not really wanting to be alone.

Blaise lifted an eyebrow, but nodded. "My mum's getting married again and I don't really know how I feel about it." He took a deep breath. "I'm happy for her but I just hate the taste of wedding cake at this point."

Kali stared at him as he talked, trying to understand where he was coming from. "You don't have to agree with her to be happy for her. This is her seventh marriage, and they affect you as much as they affect her."

"I guess." He replied, shaking his head since he didn't want to think about that. "By the way, you are cordially invited to the wedding in May, so you have to find a pretty dress."

This made the girl in front of him smile a huge grin. "Merlin! I've never been to a wedding." She informed him, looking overjoyed.

"I've been to too many and they aren't as fun as they seem." They were usually boring and tedious, especially if you were a part of the committee. "I don't even want to get married."

This made Kali turn serious. "What?" She asked, not understanding how someone wouldn't want to celebrate their love to their partner. "I'm the opposite. I want a huge wedding with flowers and an enchanted dance floor so we can dance for ages. My dress will have to be silky with some nice shoes, even if you can't see them." Her face a childlike wonder quality, her features softening with imagination.

Her wedding was something Kali had been planning since she was three years old and decided she liked Gilderoy Lockheart and would be marrying him. She has a very vivid image of the day in her mind, down to the placing of the sun and the shape of the moon. The plan was set in stone if she could help it, anything that goes wrong will just add to the marriage not working.

Blaise chuckled under his breath, amused with the girl standing in front of him. "Make sure to invite me to the wedding then. I'm sure you'll have space for your fake boyfriend."

This made Kali rear back, suddenly remembering what this was. This was a transaction between two classmates who just had something to gain. There were no underlying feelings, even if they were getting comfortable with each other. For a moment she had forgotten about this ruse and just saw the boy in front of her.

She gave him a dry laugh, not wanting to show how her mood had soured. "We shall see." She replied simply and stood up, the astronomy tower suddenly feeling too small for them both. "Anyways, I'll see you tomorrow. Have a good night, Blaise." She exited quickly, not even letting him say goodbye.

He stared at her as she left, thinking about her wedding with someone else. He would probably be in the back row while her husband was waiting in the front, a huge smile knowing who he was marrying. A pinch started feeling in his chest while he thought of a future that probably wasn't even close, but still felt too real. Honestly, the idea made him want to gag and throw up off the side of the tower he was standing in.

Kali entered her dorm quietly, not really feeling sleepy but craving the warmth of her bed anyways. She laid down, her feet rubbing together as she got comfortable under her blankets. Due to the walls being stone, they were always a bit chilly, so she snuggled up in the fuzziness of the quilt she had on top of her.

Her mind kept running. She felt like an idiot. She didn't have a crush on Blaise or anything of the sort, but she had forgotten this was fake. Truthfully, she assumed he was having fun with this, just like she had. Maybe she was wrong and he really saw this as a business transaction. Falling asleep, those thoughts stayed with her throughout the night.
