Kali couldn't stop thinking about how Blaise came to her defense, willing to put himself on the line in order to help her. When Simon pulled up close to her, she felt helpless. It was a miracle that she didn't cry, because her throat was clogged and her hands shook.

Because of the whole situation, Kali and Blaise were almost ate for class, so they ran through the congested halls, hoping that their respective professor wouldn't mind them barging in three seconds before class started.

The day had gone slow, for she couldn't concentrate, thinking about what Blaise's acting exercise entailed for both of them. It wasn't like they could go back to how they were before, just mild acquaintances thanks to being in the same year.

The couple had set on meeting at the astronomy tower like the night before, the darkness and silence giving them enough space to speak freely. Until then, they had to answer questions from their best friends, who were nagging them with introspective questions.

Carla pulled on her arm, trying to make her stop from going to dinner. "You can't ignore me, Kal. How did you pull Blaise Zabini so quickly after a breakup?"

Kali rolled her eyes. This was fairly amusing to her, seeing her best friend in shambles over something fake. "It just happened."

"And you didn't think to tell me that you had that tall glass of water to yourself?" Carla loved boys, not in a weird way, she just admired beauty. She's been saying for years how hot the Slytherins are in comparison to the other houses.

Kali laughed out loud, finally stopping to look at the blonde girl. "We can share him." She said as a joke, her voice dry as when she used sarcasm.

This made Carla smirk and lift one eyebrow, her cheeks a bit red. "You don't have to tell me twice." She giggled, leaning forward to catch her breath. Then, her face lit up with an idea, probably a bad one. "You should set me up with Malfoy now that you have connections."

Kali reared back, her face in a grimace, like she ate a lemon. "You guys look like siblings with the blonde hair." Carla's hair was blonde, much like Malfoy's. Not as white, but close enough.

Carla wheezed at the words of her friend and put a hand on her shoulder. They laughed to themselves, earning weird glances from the people around them. They couldn't find it in them to care, their joy too heavy to ignore.

They ate dinner, the silence between them comfortable, but a sense of loss overweight them. Penelope was missing. She used to be with them at every moment of every day, but now she sits at the head of the table with Simon next to her. Kali should feel like this is betrayal, but she doesn't even care. She misses her friend.

Blaise sat on his bed, some scripture in his hands that he was reviewing for his legitimacy class. His eyes bounced from word to word, but he couldn't concentrate properly, his mind on Kali Swan and her sad eyes.

Draco entered the room, a suspicious look on his face. He cleared his throat, earning Blaise's attention. "Mate, what the fuck was that with Swan?" His accent is posh, so when he curses it always sounds like a royal is saying something as gross as him.

Blaise threw his head back, leaning on the black headboard. He knew the question was coming, but he didn't have an answer. "I honestly don't know." He replied truthfully. "She needed help and I wanted to spite Chance for what he did to Camden last year."

Their third roommate, Camden Webb, got injured on the quidditch pitch because of Simon. Simon pushed him off his broom and told Madame Pomfrey that it was an accident as she fixed the broken leg of one of his best friends.

Camden liked to study, so he was always in the library, including this very moment. He got to the room later than the other boys.

Draco nodded, understanding his reasoning. He beat up Simon when it happened and got detention for a month. Still, the revenge they wanted was beyond that. Their friend still can't play quidditch, and the Slytherin team lost one of its best players.

"You're stuck with her now, you know that right?" Draco lifted his eyebrows, his eyes dancing with playfulness. Truthfully, he found this pretty funny, but knew that it would have some consequences for his best friend. "You can kiss the parties goodbye."

Blaise rolled his eyes, Draco was so dramatic he should get a prize. "She doesn't own me, so I can do whatever I want." It's not like he liked to party that much anyways, but he was always present to keep his bad boy status when he needed it to.

Like summoned by their thoughts, Camden walked inside the dorm, his green sweater dark against his body. "Blaise, why am I hearing you're dating Kali Swan?" He asked, placing his books on the desk they shared.

Blaise groaned, using his hands to cover face while Draco laughed harder and harder as the seconds passed. "I just wanted to help her." He was frustrated that he had to explain this to everyone.

"Honestly, I don't care, but Daphne came up to me in the common room to ask about it." Camben lifted his hands up like he was held at gunpoint. "She also asked me if I was free Friday night and invited me to her dorm." He shuttered, probably scared of Daphne like every other boy in Slytherin.

For now, Blaise will have to decide what to say to Kali when he sees her. They have to find a way to make this farce seem believable while making it as short as possible. Not that he minded playing this game for her, but he knew he couldn't– shouldn't lie to his friends for so long.
