And we would have rich babies.

Carla paced, her feet taking her in circles around Kali's bed. Her face was annoyed, but not angry. Her arms were crossed in front of her, but she kept her body language calm.

"Why didn't you tell me? I would've been overjoyed to make a fake dating plan for you and Blaise." She spoke, her voice like a whisper. They were alone in the room, but Penelope could come in at any second.

Kali couldn't explain why she didn't tell her, because she didn't know why she hadn't confided in her friend. She knows Carla is a trusting person, but something stopped her. Probably it was that she didn't want to be pitied by her best friend, the one person who knows her completely.

Kali shrugged. "I didn't think it would blow up in my face. I thought we would have a tasteful separation which we both wanted, but it felt way too close to an actual breakup." She missed Blaise, which annoyed her.

Carla shook her head, finally stopping her pacing and sat next to her best friend. "I just can't believe it was fake. He looked enthralled by you, like he couldn't believe you were actually with him."

"It was acting." Kali muttered although it hurt her to say it. She was just another girl who had fallen for Blaise and had to face the consequences.

"And you." Carla motioned to Kali, her face redder than usual, like it does when she's mad. "You looked so in love with him, which shocked me because he is not your type, but you looked so happy I couldn't question it. You never looked like that with Simon."

"It was all acting, Carla." She said but it felt like a lie. "Maybe in the end I got used to having him around, but he warned me that it was fake and never going anywhere, so I have myself to blame."

"Well, Cammy told me that Blaise is miserable and that he keeps having nightmares." She said like this was going to change everything that happened. "He feels bad for how he handled the situation."

This made Kali's chest ache. She likes Blaise, and not only as a partner but as a person, so hearing he was suffering made her feel horrible, but he hasn't apologized and she refuses to be stepped on like she did when she was with Simon. "I can't do anything to help. Tell Camden to stop gossiping with you."

"He likes me." Carla confesses with a giggle. "He's kinda cute, right? And we would have rich babies."

This was the perfect change of subject, so Kali honed into this. "I thought you liked Draco."

"Oh, please." Carla scoffed, moving her hand up and down like the sentence offended her. "We both know Camden is the better contender."

"Hmm." Kali muttered, amusement dripping from her tone. Carla was cheering her up, even if she had no idea she was doing so.

The blonde girl suddenly shook her head, like she was breaking out from a trance. "You are distracting me from you and Blaise." She groaned, like it hurt her to keep talking about it, but she was going to. "You know I blame men for everything, but maybe just this once you can start the conversation." She paused and Kali looked at her meanly, which made her keep talking. "Or not. I love you either way."

They embraced, a tight hug which made most of Kali's suffering suffice. She was sad, but not enough to not like her best friend's hugs, which is always a good sign that things are looking up.
