Hogsmead was full, students from every house, age and year were buzzing around the streets. It was finally warm enough to go out without thinking about your outfit or plans, just simply hanging with your friends.
That is exactly what Kali and Carla were doing, because since Kali and Blaise cleared the air and agreed to be friends, they have been inseparable. Blaise, Camden, Draco, Kali and Carla were sitting at a table at the three broomsticks drinking some cold butterbeer, Camden's treat.
Carla played with her hair that was currently in a ponytail while talking. "What should I wear to this elusive wedding, Blaise?" Blaise invited her to his mother's wedding, which she was super excited about.
"A nice dress." He answered simply, taking a sip of his cool drink. "Obviously not white."
"I'm not stupid, I know I should wear a dress." Rolling her eyes, she shook her head, annoyed at his lack of information. "I need to go to a muggle shopping center or something."
This caught Draco's attention, and he perked up. "I've always wanted to go to one of those."
"Then stick with me, my dear star, and I shall take you to one." Carla replied with a fake posh accent that sounded a bit vulgar.
"It's just some stores in a building." Kali spoke, sitting in between Blaise and Carla. "You can't find your expensive suits in them."
Blaise and Kali were keeping a tasteful fake relationship for now, but they weren't pushing the moments. Their friendship had enough chemistry to keep suspicion away. Plus, none of them wanted to admit that they liked being together.
Like a magnet, Blaise's arm moved to the back of her chair, his fingers just a hair off her shoulder. She could feel his body close to hers, and she instinctively moved towards him, initiating contact. Of course, she did it casually so no one would notice, but Blaise ruined it by plastering his hand on her, his grip soft but possessive, something she had learned to enjoy in this journey with him.
They finished their drinks, it cooled down their body so that they could continue walking through the shops, hoping to find some outfits for Mrs. Zabini's wedding, which was slowly creeping in on them. The boys were used to shopping, since they liked to look good themselves, so waiting around while the girls put some clothes on wasn't exhausting.
Kali and Carla skimmed through the racks of beautiful gowns and dresses, but nothing spoke out to them. That was until Kali found the most beautiful dress she had ever seen. It was a silky dark green with some beading and lace at the bottom. When she saw it she tried to hide her gasp, but it wasn't possible.
Carla was in her dressing room, trying on a blue dress that was sure to make her beautiful eyes pop, so she wasn't there for Kali to show her. Who was there, on the other hand, was Blaise, who noticed her reaction immediately and rushed to her.
"I think you should try it on." He stated, his hands running through the expensive fabric.
Realistically, Kali wasn't a poor person, her family had enough money to get by. The problem was that the money her mother had, never came into her hands. She would get a few random bursts of coins from her mum whenever she needed something for school, but she didn't have anything laying around for a pretty dress.
She shook her head, donning a humble expression. "Oh, no."She waved Blaise off. "I don't think it's my size."
He looked at the dress, the tag and then at her. "We can it get tailored." He said with the confidence of knowing that he could buy a million of these dresses if he wanted to.
"That's okay." Kali replied, her voice wavering a little. She did feel a bit embarrassed that her mum had this pretty big house but didn't spare a coin for her own daughter. "I'll probably just buy something at the muggle shops."
Carla approached then, her face sweaty from changing into so many dresses. "Had any luck?"
Kali turned away from Blaise, focusing on her best friend. "No, not really." The dress stayed at the back of her mind, but she couldn't buy it now, so it was best not to look at it too much.
The blonde girl gave her a shrug, a playful expression on her face. "When we go to my house next weekend we can go shopping."
They had a visit planned with Carla's family, who live in the heart of London. Her parents were muggles, but they accepted wizards. Her little brother hoped he would be a wizard, but there was no way to be sure.
"Can we go to Honeydukes?" Draco asked from his chair, a little whiny. He liked looking at clothes, yet he was a bit bored.
"Of course!" Kali perked up, wanting to get out of this store and it's beautiful dress.
Way too quickly, she rushed to the door, forgetting about the people that were there with her. When she noticed no one was following her, she turned back to them, an expectant look on her face.
"Actually, Carla, can you stay behind with me for a moment?" Blaise asked with the most casual tone he could muster. "I think I found a dress you would like. You can try it on while they rot their teeth."
She lit up at the idea of buying new clothes, so she nodded quickly, staying with Blaise while the others exited the shop. "So, Zabini, which dress will I like?" Her eyes scanned the store, trying to pinpoint which one it was.
Blaise looked at her like she was stupid, but he checked his features into their normal place. "That was a lie."
"Huh?" She pursed her lips, a bit confused by the whole thing.
He picked up the dress Kali lingered on, already imagining how beautiful she would look in it. "Kali liked it, but she said it wouldn't fit. You think this is about her size?" He gave the dress a spin so she could see it well.
"This is exactly her size." Carla replied, taking a peek at the price tag. "It's just too expensive."
"That's what I thought." Blaise said his inner thoughts out loud. "I'm going to buy it for her, but don't ruin the surprise."
Carla leaned forward, grabbing his face in between her hands, an adorning expression on her. She looked like she was holding her first born child. "That is the cutest thing I have ever heard." She said with a baby voice. "See, I knew you liked her."
This brought him out of his trance. "Don't get ahead of yourself, Atkinson."
"Bite me." She spat out and walked away from him, some pretty earrings catching her attention. Just like that, she was distracted.
Blaise grabbed the dress and went to pay, giving the server the gold card he uses for everything. Never will that card decline, since it's connected to his bank account. It was nice to be able to spoil Kali after everything she's done for him. This was one of the ways he wanted to pay her back. He gave them her dorm for it to be delivered to by one of the elves that worked there and they made their way to the candy shop, this little secret between them.
