As a general rule, Carla was ballsy. The woman was never afraid of speaking her mind, even when that came back to bite her in the arse. Not once has she stayed quiet in a situation where she had a strong opinion. It was one of her many defining traits.
Seeing Kali with puffy eyes over Blaise broke her heart, especially because she liked him. Truthfully, the couple really gave her hope that Kali was going to come out of her shell. Year after year Carla has tried to bring a bit more life into Kali's everyday routine, but Blaise was able to infiltrate that aspect of her life pretty quickly.
Given the situation, and since it was a boy problem, she would trash talk Blaise in order to make Kali happy. She was able to drag anyone through the dirt, no matter how much she liked them. Her personal opinions weren't of importance when her best friend was crying.
Kali was a sensitive creature, but her dedication to school ruled her every move. Even if she was down about Blaise, she was behind on work, so she rushed to the library. Carla offered to keep her company but her friend refused, probably going to get distracted if she came. Carla didn't want to give it away, but she didn't like the library so it was kind of a relief.
As soon as Kali walked out the door, she put on some comfy clothes and waited a few minutes until the coast was clear. Then, she rushed out of her dorm, marching her way down to the Slytherin dorm she frequented recently.
The school was warming up, rays of sun beaming down on her and her attitude as she walked towards the Slytherin side of Hogwarts. Her slippers slapped the floor, sounding like a very scary song, the beat louder with each step. She didn't really have a plan on what she was going to do, but no one hurt her best friend and lived to tell the tale.
The wooden door stood before her, and she knocked, crossing her arms bravely until someone opened the door. The one who opened the door was the exact person she wanted to see. Blaise stared at her and his posture faltered. Good. She liked scaring men.
Even though Blaise was way over six feet, her icy gaze and crossed arms were enough to make him cower under— well, over her gaze. He didn't even need to speak because she marched into the dorm with a confidence only a giant should have.
Camden and Draco straightened when they saw her in the room. They were hunched over a dark arts book and immediately stopped to stare at her and what she was going to do. She gave her a mean glare.
"I just want to know why no one thought to tell me this whole situation was an elaborate ruse to make Simon jealous." She stated, giving an extra long stare at Camden, which she felt betrayed by. "Of course Kali is not to blame, so everyone better tell me their side of the story. Now."
Draco jumped quickly into the conversation, his eyes widening with fear. "I was involved, but I didn't want to be. This is Camden's fault."
"No it's not, arsehole." He extended his hand and gave Draco a slap on the back of the head, which left him rubbing his hair. "Look, we found out by accident, but apparently that doesn't matter because they broke up." He gave a pointed look to Blaise.
Blaise shook his head, avoiding looking at Carla. "We can't break up if we were never dating."
This made her scoff. "Oh, please. You're so in love with her."
"We both knew it was fake. There is no reason to be so caught up about it." Blaise said, yet his tone was so insincere it was jarring.
She ticked her tongue, a bit disappointed with the lying go on right at that moment. "I know you like her so stop the fucking charade. How you dismissed Kali made her feel like shit, but you can fix it."
Blaise pulled at the collar of his sweater, like the air was not coming into his lungs. The sweater was choking him and his feelings weren't helping the situation. "Did she really feel that bad?" He questioned, his guilt eating him from the inside out.
"I know her and she was definitely trying to act like it didn't sting, but it did." She kept her voice a bit harsh, trying to scare him into apologizing. Kali could move on if Blaise mustered up the courage to apologize. "So what are you going to do about it, Zabini?"
He stayed silent, actually contemplating the question and seeing how ro answer. "I still need her as my date for my mum's wedding, so I'm going to have to apologize."
"If you are going to apologize for your own personal gain, then keep your sorry to yourself." Carla snarked at him. "Gain her trust back because I know you like hanging around each other, even if it's as friends." She motiones around the room, adding emphasis to what she was going to say. "I, for one, love hanging out with you guys, but if Kali feels bad then we have to cut contact."
Blaise nodded along, seeing where she was coming from. "Yes, I understand. I do like her, but I hurt people, Carla. She shouldn't want to be my friend."
"Look, Blaise," She sighed, the adrenaline she had when she came into the room wearing off. "Kali doesn't care about that. She is the most caring person you will ever meet, so your past has nothing to do with her friendship. That being said, she cares so much she loses herself in people. I know I'm guilty of abusing her friendship sometimes, but she will never hold that over me. You just need to talk to her and see where that goes, because I know she enjoyed being around you and your friends."
Her words hit him hard and he suddenly felt the need to find Kali and apologize to her profusely. He liked her a lot, and he missed her already. She was the perfect addition to his life, she filled a hole that he didn't know was there. Life without someone like her in it felt dull, she had injected some color into him.
He felt her support even when she was a bit pissed at him and he wanted to do the same for her. Help her wherever she needs it, probably just as friends. Hell, he'd want to be in her life even if they were enemies.
Carla stood smirking in front of him, knowing she hit a nerve and her words resonated with him. He made a sneaky glance at Camden and Draco who gave her a thumbs up. It took all her willpower not to grin.
"You're right." Blaise said, looking at the clock on the wall. It was way too late to talk to Kali and sound sane. "I'll talk to her tomorrow."
"Then I guess my work here is done." Carla beamed, a stupid smile on her face now. "See you later, Slytherins."
With that she left the dorm and ran back to her room in order to get there before Kali. All the running got her out of breath but a minute after she arrived, Kali walked through the door, a somber expression on her face. Carl wanted to jump and announce what happened, but she kept her composure and helped Kali get ready for bed.
