I wanted to see you.

When Carla left the slytherin dorm, the weight of the situation came crashing down on Blaise. He had been a bit distraught over it, but if Kali's best friend came in here ready for a fight, then he maybe was a bit too harsh.

Immediately he wrote a little note for Kali, using his expensive quill and trying to write as neatly as possible to make it eligible. His handwriting was in a weird cursive that only he could understand, and he needed her to be able to read what he wrote.

Meet me at the astronomy tower at 4 am. It's Blaise.

Simple and effective, he knew she would show up. She was a curious person, and probably wanted to see what he was going to say to her after kicking her out of his dorm and not speaking to her.

Blaise walked out of his dorm, not bothering with being quiet because his roommates knew he was meeting her now. Still, Camden and Draco were asleep, muttering something close to good luck as he opened the door.

The air was getting sticky, now in those late winter, early spring days where the weather was confused. Even if it was early, Blaise knew some students would be up, so he was dressed in his normal outfit, just a bit toned down. Yet his clothes were all black, save for the slytherin jumper he had on.

As he approached the astronomy tower, his heart started beating quicker. He never felt this way before, not even when he was really nervous for a game or a test. He convinced himself it had something to do with his lack of sleep.

Kali sat on the stone ledge that was in the middle of the astronomy tower. Her face was gentle, just like the rest of her, something Blaise liked. She always looked a bit lost, maybe that was how she felt. As always, she looked beautiful.

He walked a bit harsher, not wanting to startle her with his voice, so he caught her attention first. When she turned to look at him, it felt like the sun was shining on his again, but that was probably the feeling of the sunrise, right?

"You came early." He spoke, mentally hitting himself for saying a stupid statement like that when he missed her.

With a shrug she gave him a small nod. "Couldn't sleep."

"Me neither." He replied, his voice a bit raspy from not being used in a few hours. Then, he decided to break whatever barrier was between them. "Thank you for showing up. I didn't know if you were coming."

"I wanted to see you." She answered, her voice small which meant she was a bit embarrassed by the statement. Her eyes averted to the air behind him.

He sighed from relief, knowing that she was feeling his absence too. "I should start by apologizing for how I lashed out at you." He stared at his hands, dreading this conversation, but it must be done. "You were helping me and I couldn't see that."

Kali's eyes were locked into his face and the vulnerable expression stuck in it. "I should apologize for overstepping." This had been playing in her mind for days.

"No." He shook his head, meeting her gaze. His brown eyes looked lighter for some reason, like the color of honey. "I was high off my mind and you helped me. Thank you for that, Kali. I swear without you we wouldn't have known what to do."

She scrunched her eyebrows, curiosity getting the best of her. "Why did you take whatever you took?" Maybe this was a violation of privacy, but since they were being honest she might as well ask.

He stopped for a beat, his face full with some morality battle. He felt way too vulnerable, but if we wanted to cultivate a friendship here, then he needed to say the truth. "Honestly? You were doing that project and Daphne came over to me and started talking shit." He took a breath and continued. "I was only going to take a bit, just to pass the time since we were arguing. Maybe I miscalculated, but I took too much and I didn't know what to do except stumble to my dorm and hope Camden could take care of me."

"Why didn't you just come and talk to me? I would've left the study session." She said, trying not to sound desperate, but maybe she did.

He looked at her with confusion, his lips pouted. "Because you were mad at me since I got jealous of whatever that little kid's name is."

This made Kali giggle a bit, she covered her mouth to not hurt him. "Even if I was mad, we can talk while I'm angry." They were friends, that's what they did. "And I wasn't mad about that. I thought you were hooking up with Daphne even when you agreed to be celibate."

"I would never." He almost gagged at the thought. "I made you a promise."

"Well yeah, but you're a slytherin." She spoke like this explained everything.

This made him chuckle, that dark sound that sounded as smooth as whiskey. "I might be conniving, but I'm not nasty."

"I know this now." She said with a sincere tone. "It was a stupid thing to get mad about, and I'm sorry for that."

"I'm sorry for overstepping some boundaries." Blaise replied, leaning against the wall across from her now. "You did tell me you're not as comfortable with physical touch as I am."

This made Kali reevaluate the situation, because she was comfortable with touch and maybe she hadn't let that across. "You make me feel comfortable, Blaise. If not I wouldn't have been cuddling with you." Why couldn't he understood this?

He nodded, adding this to his mental folder of Kali. "Also, you found out about my nightmares, even if I tried to hide them from you." His voice was somber again. "I apologize if they were scary."

This was her last straw and she stood up, standing in front of him, even when she was much smaller than him. "Do you not understand that you don't scare me?" She yelled, because he made himself seem like this monster when he's the opposite. "You could never scare me, nightmares and all. It pains me that you thought that I would run away because of that." She breathed and looked at him dead in the eyes. "You kicked me out of your room because you thought that if I saw the real you or whatever you were hiding."

"You're right." He whispered, shocked with her outburst but glad she was standing up for herself and saying whatever she had on her mind.

Her arms were crossed in front of her. "Even though we just started hanging out, you should know that I never walk away from friendships, especially for something as small as a nightmare." Her voice cracked a little, from the frustration running through her. "And I want to be your friend, but you have to open up to me about things. I'm not saying share your life story, but let me help you, just like you helped me with Simon."

"Kali, I really like you." Blaise blurted out, shunning himself for that. "And I want to be your friend, not just as a deal, but in real life."

"I do, too." She replied, calming down from whatever possessed her a moment ago. "I think we should take it slow and start hanging out as friends, not as fake lovers."

He nodded. "I agree." So much was resolved with such a short conversation, he felt like floating. "Does that mean you can't sleep over anymore?"

This made Kali laugh, the sound sweetening his day. He loved the sound of her laugh and the little snort she did in between chuckles. "If you give me the slytherin sweater then I will most definitely be there tonight."

He laughed and in response opened his arms slightly, not knowing if this was too much for their new friendship. Apparently it wasn't because Kali rushed to get settled under his arms and against his chest, already warm. He squeezed her tight and bent down, plating a kiss on her forehead. "I've gotten too used to having you around to hug, I don't know how I survived these five days."

"Tell me about it." Kali replied, her voice muffled from being stuck in his jumper, but she didn't plan on moving anytime soon.
