Abigail

It's my birthday tomorrow and Carter promised he'd visit me today. He said he has the best gift ever prepared for me, I don't know about that. It's clear that he loves me but his gifts seem to be very expensive and I feel bad to accept them.

"Honey, they're here." Lincoln tells me as he looks inside my room. "Coming dad."  He smiles at me and leaves. I started calling Lincoln my dad two years ago. When I started school, some kids bullied me because I didn't have parents. One time, Lincoln saw it all and told me I could call him dad because he was my parent. At first it felt uncomfortable but now I know that he was right. After all the time we've spent together he's the best dad I could ever wish for.

I run down the stairs and I'm immediately engulfed in a hug. "I missed you so much." Carter mumbles near my ear as he crushes me into his arms.

I hug him back while chuckling. "Someone likes me too much."

"You know it." He kissed the top of my head and pulled away. "You know it's only been two days since the last time we saw each other."

"And that's the whole 48 hours Abigail."

I laugh as I look at Kaden. "Hey, Abigail. I hope you're doing well, unlike my son who comes here every chance he gets, I haven't seen you for a while."

Carter glares at his dad but doesn't say anything.

"I'm fine Kaden. How about you?"

"All well." He smiles at me warmly and I smile back. "Okay, you kids go upstairs, I'll call you once the dinner is ready." My dad says and I  raise an eyebrow at him. If he's willingly letting me in my bedroom with Carter, that means he has something important to say to his brother and doesn't want me to eavesdrop.

Carter however doesn't even care as he holds my hand and drags me upstairs. "I think my uncle has changed since the last time I saw you." He chuckled as he closed the door behind him.

"Nah, the same old man he was." I say playfully and Carter nods his head in agreement.

"So, what have you been doing?" He asks as he leans against the door. I sit on my bed and pat the space beside me. He smiles as he comes and sits next to me. I lay my head on his shoulder and start talking about what happened in my life the last two days. He loves listening to me. I love talking to him.

Once I've finished talking I ask him the same question. Carter shrugs. "Nothing much, I've been home all day long after school but my dad had something he needed my help with so I couldn't visit."

"What about Liam and Miles?" They are his friends from school. Carter always talks about them, saying how much he cares about his friends but today he hasn't said a word. And I'm wondering if he tells Liam and Miles about me.

"We kinda had a fight." He shrugs again and that's a sign he doesn't want to talk about it. But I'm curious. "About what?" I ask as I lean away and look at him.

"About a girl." My stomach drops at his words. About a girl? Because of a girl? Which girl? Carter has never had any female friends other than me and he also never had a girlfriend, does he like someone? And why does it bother me so much?

"Oh really?" I try not to show my emotions in my tone but I failed because Carter raised an amused eyebrow. What is he amused about?

Then he chuckles as he takes a strand of my hair and places it behind my ear. I love the feeling of his hands on me. "No. It's not what you think, I wasn't interested in anyone. It's just that Liam liked this girl, her name is Lana if I'm not wrong, and he decided to ask her out but it turned out she was Mile's childhood friend that he had a crush on but couldn't tell her because he was scared it'd ruin their friendship and when he found out Liam and that girl were on a date, he fought with him. I defended Liam because obviously he didn't know and it wasn't his fault so Miles got mad at me too and then Liam wanted me to spend tonight with him but I denied because I was coming here so he got mad at me too but I think he'll be okay tomorrow."

"I'm sorry." He frowns at me. "For what?"

"Liam's mad at you because of me." I tell him as I lean my head on his shoulder again. This time he starts stroking my hair. This is my favorite feeling.

"No. No. Don't even think like that, he knows how much I care about you and that I'd drop anything just to spend a minute of my day with you. He was just angry at the whole Miles and his situation." He kissed my temple and I melted.

I love being in his arms.

After a few minutes my door opens and Lincoln clears his throat. Carter rolls his eyes as I get up and motion for him to do the same.

"Couldn't you have taken more time to cook that bloody dinner?" He asked irritatedly. Does that mean he also loves having me in his arms?

"Come on princess." Lincoln tells me and sends a glare at Carter who does the same. Seriously? That's your nephew Lincoln!
