Lincoln frowned when he stepped inside his house and didn't find Abigail. "Abi?" He asked as he walked upstairs and checked her door. But it was empty.

He called her before but she didn't answer. Now he took his phone out and tried calling her but it was turned off.

His heart started beating fast as the worst case scenarios built up in his mind. He panicked but it only lasted for a minute before he collected his thoughts.

He called his brother. Like always. Kaden would help him. He knew that and he hated how he treated his own brother in the past. How he tried to poison Angela's (Kaden's wife, Carter's mom) mind and lied to her because he didn't want his brother to have her.

"Kaden." His voice sounded so broken that Kaden knew it was about Abi. "Lincoln?" He asked but couldn't listen to him as the door to his room opened and his son rushed inside with his phone in his hand and tears running down his eyes.

"Dad!" Carter yelled as he started explaining but he wasn't making any sense. Kaden snatched the phone from his son and looked at it. His heart stopped.

"No." Lincoln and him said at the same time. "It's my fault, I'm so sorry." Carter cried. If only he's seen the message before. Abigail sent the text 3 hours ago but he left the phone on his bedside table and was talking with his dad. Kaden was moving away and they spent time together. Then Carter went to his room and saw the text. He felt guilty. If something happened to Abigail, he would never forgive himself.

"It's not." Lincoln surprised both of them as he said those words. He didn't like that Carter liked Abigail in a romantic way but he knew it wasn't Carter's fault at all. It was his own. She was his daughter he should have protected her better.

"Let's go." Kaden already knew the address. He sent his man there when Lincoln found Abigail and when she confirmed that she's been abused.

Now he wished he hadn't left the man alive because if not for him, this wouldn't have happened. Abigail would have been safe.

None of them spoke while driving but once Kaden parked the car Carter spoke about their worst fear, "What if she's hurt?"

Kaden shook his head trying to calm his son. "You stay here." He said, Carter instantly shook his head. "No way-"

"Yes!" Kaden locked his side of the door and got out Lincoln did the same. "Dad!" Carter called but they left him alone.

Carter waited in the car. His heart breaking just imagining the case where Abigail would be hurt.

After what felt like hours, he could finally see two shadows in the dark. At first he frowned but once they approached closer, he could see Lincoln carrying passed out Abigail in his arms.

What happened ?

"What happened?" He asked as both of them got inside. Lincoln sat next to him in the back seat, he laid Abigail on top of both of them.

Kaden started driving and Carter noticed that his knuckles were bloodied.

"What happened?" He repeated.

"Not now." Kaden replied.

Carter sighed and looked down at Abigail. She was hurt. There were bruises on her face.

He hang his head down in shame. It was his fault. She texted him, she needed his help and he ignored her, not on purpose but still. He looked out of the window as silent tears fell from his eyes. The rest of the drive was quiet until they reached a hospital.
