"Well, this seems to be the place," Percy said as the five approached the glimmering gates of (Y/N)'s estate.
"Maybe Mazikeen was right," Grover grimaced. "This all looks so fancy, too fancy."
"He's just keeping up appearances," Simon insisted. "Let's just go in and talk to him."
Simon knocked on the golden gate. Soon after, the gate swung open, allowing them entrance. The five stepped through the threshold cautiously and looked around, seeing green grass for the first time since leaving Camp Half-Blood. At the crossroads of the estate lawn was a fountain full of what seemed to be actual water, though Grover could feel something wrong with it. The group made a left at the fountain toward the front door of the mansion, passing various statues on either side.
Unlike those flanking Hades's front door, the statues in (Y/N)'s estate were of people engaged in various business transactions. On the right was a pair of business partners shaking hands, another was a man relaxing in a beach chair, and finally a man driving a sports car.
The left was very different. While the statues on the right depicted scenes that were at least nominally good, the statues on the left showed the worst that can come from human greed. The first was a fat man sitting on a throne being held up by hundreds of anemic people. The second showed someone working in a sweatshop in pain, while the final one displayed a general ordering a charge from the rear.
The dichotomy of the flanking statues only heightened Annabeth's feeling of unease. Regardless of which side of the walkway the statue was on, the statues seemed to be glorifying what they represented; fabulous wealth and success on one side, poverty and ruin on the other.
Just as Simon was about to knock on the front door to the mansion, the door opened itself, further contributing to Annabeth's concern. Looking inside the mansion, various demons were running about inside the place, catering to various requirements for running the day-to-day operations. Some seemingly held flip-phones in their hands taking calls while others busied themselves with things like cleaning or grabbing things.
Percy pulled one of the demons on a phone aside and asked him where (Y/N) was. The demon absentmindedly pointed them toward the central staircase before returning to his conversation, something about the conflict in the Middle East. The group climbed the central staircase and were eventually able to find the door to (Y/N)'s office. Simon gently knocked on the door, hoping that (Y/N) was inside.
They heard a small sigh from inside before the voice of the archdemon came through. "Enter."
Everyone walked through and saw (Y/N) standing in front of the fireplace, a glass of something in his hand. He was clearly about to put his suit jacket on before they had knocked if the way it had been thrown on his chair was any indication. On the turntable in the corner was a rock record playing at a low volume which provided the only sound besides the crackling of the fire. (Y/N) took a sip from his drink and turned around to look at the demigods, a slight scowl on his face after letting the alcohol slightly burn his throat.
"And what are you all doing here?" (Y/N) asked. He sounded calm, but there was clearly some amount of malice in his voice.
"We need your help," Percy said. "The Labyrinth is acting up, it's how we got-"
(Y/N) held up a hand and cut him off. "I'm well aware of the Labyrinth, you were there when Chiron told me. Now, who's the one who received the prophecy?"
Annabeth nervously looked back and forth before stepping forward. "It was me."
"Good, good for you," (Y/N) said as he placed his glass on his desk. "The rest of you, get out. My negotiation will be with Annabeth and Annabeth alone."
