"I love you!" A blonde boy had called as he rushed out the door, the sun barely awake. "Love you too.." A curly haired boy responded with a yawn. The curly haired boy huffed, slightly upset the love of his life, his husband, had left to work.

How rude. Charlie thought.

Charlie and his husband, Nick had been together for years and years, and they were still just as in love with each other as they were 20 years ago. Nick and Charlie were high school sweethearts, and in the years they had been married,  they adopted a golden retriever dog named Daisy, and two little children. Those Children were now teenagers, and, though they were adopted, looked much like their fathers. Oscar was a tall, slender 16 year old who resembled his father Charlie more than Nick. Harper, however, was a skinny-ish 14 year old girl, with blue, almost grey eyes. She had shoulder length blonde hair, and the sweetest smile. No matter how much Nick and Charlie denied it, Harper was definitely the golden child. As expected, this made Oscar have more dislike for Harper. Oscar knew he and his sister were adopted. This, Harper didn't know. She was aware boys couldn't get pregnant, obviously, but she had thought they used a surrogate, not that she was knowledgeable in that area, but she thought she was a part of her fathers in some way. But no. Nick and Charlie had been meaning to tell her, but it kept getting put off.

Today was like any other day at school, sort of. New year had just rolled around and winter break had ended. It was now the start of a new semester at school. Harper was in year 10. Charlie was ecstatic about this, as he kept rambling on about stories when he was in year 10. He was mainly excited because year 10 was when he had a new form group, and met Nick.

"Yes, dad, I know." Harper groaned as she hoisted her backpack onto one of her shoulders, almost stumbling back from the sudden weight of it. She was a bit annoyed with her dad's stories. Mostly because she knew her year would be no where as exciting. Charlie still continued his story.

"Dad that sounds really cool but I doubt I'm going to meet my future husband. I'm straight and.. I go to an all girls school" Harper shrugged, fixing a piece of her golden locks as she spoke.

"Yeah well that's what your dad thought too." Charlie teased, giving his daughter a big hug.

"You sure you don't want me to drive you?" Charlie asked, still embraced in a hug.

"No, I'll walk with Ossy." Harper said, pulling away. "But thanks." She smiled.

"Here wait, let me take a picture. Nick will wanna see. " Charlie said, grabbing his phone from his pocket. Nick had left much earlier in the morning to go to school as well, but for a different reason. He worked as a primary school teacher.

Harper sighed softly and smiled for the camera.

"Perfect. You look so cute in your uniform." Charlie chuckled, as if he hadn't seen his daughter in this outfit for the past few years.

"It's literally the same uniform as last year." Harper said, then looked towards the stairs when she heard a stampede of stomps. Of course, it was no other than Oscar, looking as bored as usual.

"Okay, finally. Well. You two should go now I suppose." Charlie sighed, picking at his hoodie.

"Bye dad!" Harper smiled and waved as she walked out the door.

"Bye." Oscar said as well, following behind his sister.

"Bye! See you soon! Love you!" Charlie smiled, waving until his kids were out of sight.
