On November 22nd, around 7am was when Harper awoke. Quite unfortunately, today was a Friday, and she wasn't really keen on going to school on her birthday. Despite this, she sat up and got out of bed, slowly walking to her bathroom. She yawned, splashing her face with water so she hopefully wouldn't look like a complete zombie when she walked downstairs, and she put on some concealer. Once satisfied, Harper went downstairs. The next thing she saw was her parents and brother in the living room, clearly waiting her arrival.
"Happy birthday!" Nick immediately smiled, getting up to hug his daughter. "You're getting so big now." He chuckled.
"Happy birthday." Charlie smiled, embracing Harper as well. "There's cake, by the way." He said, pointing to the kitchen.
Nick happily watched as Harper smiled at the cake. He honestly felt a little proud, considering he baked it. Most people weren't aware, but Nick loved baking, it was a little hobby of his.
"Thanks!" Harper smiled, walking to the kitchen, where there were a few gifts on the table.
"Happy birthday." Oscar yawned, stretching his arms out as he walked over to the dessert.
"Thanks." Harper repeated with a small smile. She eyed her father when Charlie pulled out his phone, attempting to get a good picture of his daughter.
"Okay! Sing!" Nick said, and the boys started to sing 'happy birthday'. Though they didn't sound the best, Harper appreciated it. After eating a slice of cake or two, Harper opened her gifts.
She got some books, clothes, jewelry, etc. None of that was as important as what happened at school that day.
When she arrived, Harper went to form as normal. She saw Ivy sitting there, just sitting, yet she looked so gorgeous. Harper wished she could look gorgeous doing nothing, but the thing she didn't know was that Ivy thought of her that way. Pushing past her emotions, Harper sat down and smiled.
"Good morning, miss Ivy." She teased softly, hoping Ivy wouldn't be in one of her grumpy moods today.
"Good morning, birthday girl.." Ivy responded, taking a quick glance to make sure the teacher wasn't looking before sneakily putting her hand on Harper's thigh.
Harper froze; not in a bad way, just because she was shocked that Ivy initiated the touch, especially in front of people.
"Is this my birthday present?" Harper asked with a small smirk.
Ivy shrugged, pretending to think. "It could be. However, I do have something for you, which I'll give to you at lunch."
"Aw, thank y-"
"Nelson, Hope. Keep it down, this is form, not a chit chat session." The professor scolded with a stern tone. Harper sighed, mouthing 'thank you' to Ivy before she crossed her arms and stayed silent.
The next class was French. Ivy was still pretty sucky at it. Harper thought Ivy would be really good at speaking the language, if only she put the effort in.
"Harper." The teacher called, pointing to the blonde girl. "Since it is your birthday, how would you say.. 'Today is my birthday' in French?"
Harper blushed, not expected to be asked a question so suddenly. "Aujourd'hui c'est mon anniversaire."
"Perfect, Harper!" The teacher exclaimed, then chose another victim.
"Ivy, could you please tell me how to say 'happy birthday, Harper' in French?"
"Uh.. Content anniversaire, Harper?" Ivy stated in the most monotone, British accent she could possibly do.
The teacher shook her head. "Close.. It's joyeux anniversaire Harper, actually..
