18. Partners

On Monday Harper went to school like normal. She went to form, greeted Ivy and got no response back, and then went to her art class. When she walked in she saw colored notes with people's names. Harper's sheet was pink, so she sat, and the person next to her was Ivy.

Ivy got to class a minute later and glared at Harper as she sat down. The teacher, Mrs Jade entered the room.

"Hello class," she started, "as you can see, you each have a seat partner. These are your partners for our next art project, which I hope you will all enjoy." She said. A few people, Ivy included, groaned at their partner.

"Now, your project is quite simple; you may paint, draw, or create any abstract you want.. But it has to be with your partner, this is a group project, so I suggest meeting up with your partner outside of school. Your project will be due in two weeks.. You can start planning now." Mrs Jade said, sitting down to work on something else.

"Okay." Harper smiled, glad she finally got a chance to speak with Ivy.

"Do you wanna draw, paint, something else?" Harper asked.

"Both?" Ivy shrugged. "I could paint, you could draw.."

"Yeah, that's great! You- would you wanna come over to my house one day so we could work on it? Or we could meet up somewhere else, that's totally fine too!" Harper giggled.

"Well.. Fine." Ivy sighed.

"I could give you my number, or my Instagram, so you can message me-" Harper said.

"I know your Instagram." Ivy said plainly.

".. Cool." Harper said, then huffed. "Look, I promise I'm like- really nice. I'm a great friend." Harper smiled.

"I'm sure you are.. You're just.. The complete opposite of me." Ivy said.

"So? Opposites attract?" Harper smiled.

"Are you suggesting you're attracted to me?" Ivy smirked softly.

"No! That's not what I meant-"

"I know, don't get your panties in a twist.." Ivy rolled her eyes.

Harper nodded. "Are you free maybe.. After school on Friday? Or Saturday? We could work on it then." Harper said.

Ivy nodded. "'Kay."
