Nick drove quickly to his mum's, and they arrived shortly. Nick rang the doorbell and David opened it. Nick rolled his eyes at this, and walked passed him, purposely bumping his shoulder.
"Oi." David smirked, bumping him back.
"Kids, c'mon." Nick mumbled.
Harper held Georgie tighter, but David reached out to pet the dog.
"New pup?" He asked.
Harper nodded. "Mhm." She went inside without another word.
Nick saw his mum and gave her a big hug. "Mm..Happy Christmas, mum."
Sarah smiled as she embraced her son. "Merry Christmas, Nicky."
Nick nodding, running his hands through his hair. "I thought, uh, that David was spending Christmas with Dad?"
"Yes, well.." Sarah shrugged. "I think he'll only be here for a few hours." She said as she grabbed Nick's chin to hold. "Behave." She warned before letting Nick go. Harper walked in, smiling.
"Gran! Look at our new dog!"
Sarah smiled. "Wow! What's it's name?"
"Georgie." Harper said, giving Georgie a kiss on the head.
"That's very lovely, dear."
Harper nodded and set the dog down, watching as it ran around.
Nick looked around, there weren't too many people. "Are more people coming?"
Sarah nodded, checking the time. "Yes, everyone else should arrive soon."
After a while, all the family arrived, and they were now sitting at various tables, all talking among one another.
Harper's Aunt Diane was talking with her.
"So Harper." She smiled, taking a sip of wine. "How was your Christmas so far?"
Harper grinned. "It was good, I got a bunch of stuff I wanted. Oh- We got a new puppy!!"
"Oh you did? That's wonderful!" Diane exclaimed.
Harper nodded and reached under the table, the puppy giving a small whimper as it was grabbed. "Meet Georgie."
Diane smiled, petting the dog. "Nice to meet you Georgie." She chuckled. "You know, Lucy really wants a kitten." She said. The girl in question, Lucy, was Diane's ten year old daughter, who was obsessed with animals.
"Maybe you should get her one." Harper teased.
Diane chuckled, shrugging. "Oh maybe one day. You know how she is, she thinks she's so grown up, wanting a phone and boyfriend and all that."
"Kids these days." Harper giggled softly, petting Georgie.
Diane nodded, taking another sip of her wine. "And you?"
Harper blushed because she knew what her aunt meant. She chuckled, shaking her head. "Nooo.."
Diane nodded, smiling. "Ossy was telling me he had a girlfriend."
Harper nodding, wondering why adults were always so interested in teens' love life. Maybe it was because they wanted to be able to feel the joy and emotions of young love again. "He does." She confirmed.
"You know you can tell me anything." Diane smiled.
Harper sighed, holding her dog tighter. "I know. But unfortunately I'm very single."
"Mm." Diane smiled. "You'll find someone.."
Harper nodded and mumbled a small 'I know'. Thankfully, the conversation ended when Lucy ran up to her mother.
