Today was a nice Saturday. Not too hot, not too cold. On a day like this, Harper would normally take Daisy for a stroll, but Harper now found herself alone on her walk. Harper went to the park, the same park her dads used to spend their teen days at. Harper sighed and sat on a bench, thinking about her sexuality. She was aware it wasn't a bad thing to like girls. She knew her parents would be supportive, so why was she so stressed?
Maybe it because she liked a specific girl..She needed to get her mind off of that topic, so she decided to people watch. Ad she looked at the on-goers, Harper had to do a double take. That hair.. It looked like Ivy's hair. Harper saw her face and it was indeed Ivy. Harper had no idea she lived so close.
Harper wanted to say something, to spend time with Ivy, but she didn't want to seem desperate. So she sighed and just watched, hoping that maybe Ivy would notice her.
Ivy looked very.. Distressed? Yes, maybe that was the word. She took big breaths as she leaned against a tree, her obsidian hair hiding half of her face which, from what Harper could see, had a blueish and purple undertone to it. Ivy looked up for a brief moment and locked eyes with Harper, recognizing her immediately. She looked down.
Harper gulped and caught her gaze again, silently asking if she could come over. The movement was so small Harper couldn't be sure, but she was pretty positive she saw Ivy nod. Within a few moments, Harper was standing next to Ivy.
"Hi.." Harper said.
"Hi." Ivy replied.
"I didn't know you lived around here." Harper smiled, not wanting to burden Ivy with the bigger issue straight away.
"I didn't say I did." Ivy said.
"Oh. Right, well I just assumed cause you're here, hah. Anyway, I live at the end of that street." Harper smiled, pointing somewhere in the distance.
Ivy nodded in acknowledgement.
"What happened? You don't have to talk if you don't want, but I'll listen.." Harper said softly.
"Not really your business.." Ivy said.
Harper hated that Ivy was like this sometimes. Harper had a habit of being very nosy. She wanted to know what happened to Ivy. Not just because she was nosy, but because she cared. But she couldn't just force Ivy to spill it. She'd only known the girl for a couple of weeks..
"I really like your outfit." Harper blurted out. She almost regretted saying that, but she hoped the compliment would make Ivy feel at least a little better. Ivy's outfit was truly great, though. She wore a black skirt with tights, and black boots along with a a black shirt and blazer.
"Mm." Ivy nodded, but Harper couldn't sworn she saw the faintest hint of a smile on her face.
"Yeah, really your style is just great. Even with your school uniform, you make it look so stylish...hah.. Yeah." Harper rambled awkwardly, her face very pink now.
"Thanks..?" Ivy sighed.
"Yeah, you're just like- really cool." Harper said. She just couldn't stop talking, and she cursed herself in her head for this.
Ivy nodded awkwardly.
"Yeah. Oh.. I better go, I think my dads want me home.." Harper said.
"Dads?" Ivy questioned, as if she didn't know Harper's parents. Ivy knew way more than she should about each and every person in school.
".. Yeah. My dads, Nick and Charlie.." Harper said.
Ivy expression changed, but Harper couldn't tell her emotion. Ivy knew her dad didn't like those two. So, naturally, Ivy didn't have the best picture of them so far.
"What? Do you like- not support that?" Harper said softly, praying that it wasn't the case.
"What? No, no, that's fine, I'm not homophobic.. I'm an ally." Ivy said. That was probably the most Harper ever heard her speak.
"Oh- great, yeah me too, actually.." Harper sighed.
"I just didn't know your dads were Nick and Charlie." Ivy lied. I don't think my dad likes them all that much." Ivy shrugged.
"Yeah.. That's okay though, right? We can still be friends.." Harper said.
Ivy blinked and hesitated for a few seconds. She knew she shouldn't make friends with the child of her father's enemies, but deep down, Ivy really took a liking to this girl.
"If that's what we are." Ivy rolled her eyes. "I don't really do well with friends." Ivy said, her tone almost mocking of some sort.. Almost.
"Oh. Well I promise I'm nice, hah.. I'll see you on Monday." Harper said.
Ivy didn't respond and Harper nodded awkwardly, chuckling just to break the silence.
"Okay." Harper said, walking away.
Ivy watched the girl go, blushing softly without realizing it.
