The next day, Ivy woke up to a nice text from her girlfriend.
Good morning lovelyy. I'm free to meet up whenever xx
Ok. Wanna meet at the tree in 15 mins?
Yeah!! See u soon xx
Ivy sighed and got out of bed and got ready. It was around 10am, so Ivy got a surprising 5 hours of sleep. She slipped on a black blazer and a black skirt, paired with some fleece lined tights to keep her warm admidst the cold. There was a small chance of snow today, but Ivy hoped it wouldn't be while she was outside with Harper.
As Ivy was changing, she couldn't help but take a glance at her fresh cuts. They weren't bleeding terribly, but the constant rubbing and harm in those same spots caused it to scar and swell. Ivy sighed and applied a small amount of pressure, wincing slightly. She looked away and continued getting changed, trying to not give her scars a second thought. It didn't take long for Ivy to get changed and be on her way to 'the tree' (named because she and Harper often chatted there.)
Ivy arrived and waited around for Harper. She knew her girlfriend would be a minute or three late, though she thought it was a sweet reason; because she wanted to look her best for Ivy. Harper always looked good though, and Ivy was secretly envious of that. She stared at her phone until she felt a presence behind her.
"Hi." Ivy said without glancing up.
Harper smiled and embraced her. "Hi! You look so pretty!"
Ivy blushed and pocketed her phone. "Thank you.. You too."
Harper wrapped her arms around Ivy's neck and kissed her. She could tell Ivy was surprised, but she hoped she was pleased. Harper was trying to be romantic, but maybe she just wasn't as charismatic as she thought. She pulled back and chuckled. "Um.. I missed you."
"Missed you too." Ivy said, looking away.
"Ivy.. You wanna talk?"
"I'm fine, Harper." Ivy scoffed.
Harper hesitated, terrified of saying the wrong thing, yet she spoke. "But you're not." She whispered.
Ivy looked away, then back at Harper. "My dad is just angry. You know how it is."
"I..I understand, but..You can talk to me about what's wrong, I'll listen." Harper said softly, her hand grabbing on to Ivy's.
"I'm perfectly capable of handling myself, Harper." Ivy muttered. "I don't need your pity."
Harper gulped, not knowing how to react. She was confused on why Ivy was being like this. "Ivy, stop that. Why can't you just let me be a good girlfriend?"
"Because I'm not ready to talk about things! Stop harassing me to say things I'm not ready to say yet!" Ivy shouted as she ripped her hand away from Harper's.
Harper flinched and took a step back. Ivy's face fell at this; she didn't know why Harper flinched, but Ivy continued speaking. "Just- Just stop."
"I'm sorry." Harper whispered. "I wasn't trying to pressure you, I just- I just..I really lo-..I really like you and I want to be a good girlfriend and check up on you."
Ivy stepped closer, now initiating a moment of touch herself. "You are perfect, do you not realize that?"
Harper smiled and let her fingers intertwine themselves in Ivy's hand. "Do you realize..That I feel the same about you?"
Ivy didn't respond, but she moved closer to her girlfriend.
"I..I love liking you." Harper smiled, giving Ivy a soft kiss. "You don't have to say anything you don't want to."
"I'm sorry for-" Ivy started, but was silenced by another kiss on the lips.
"You have nothing to be sorry for." Harper informed, sitting down on the grass.
Ivy followed, holding Harper's hand.
The girls sat in silence for a while, just holding each other. The sun set slowly, and Harper fell asleep on her girlfriend's shoulder. Ivy was shocked at first, but after a few minutes, she did the same. Harper wasn't woken up until her 'pillow' fell down, leaving Harper to fall as well.
"Oh-shit-" Harper cursed, sitting up.
Ivy groaned and sat up. "Sorry..I fell asleep."
Harper chuckled as she brushed leaves out of her hair. "It's okay, it's okay!"
Ivy yawned and smiled. "God..How long were we sleeping for?"
Harper checked her phone. "It's Around two.."
Ivy nodded and snuggled back into Harper. "Mm..Ugh, I can't believe school starts next week. I wanna be on break forever."
Harper giggled and nodded in agreement. "I know, me too.." Harper sighed and squeezed Ivy for comfort.
"I hate school." Ivy groaned.
Harper rolled her eyes. "But you get to see me."
"Yeah but I can see you whenever." Ivy said.
Harper smiled and kissed Ivy again, closing her eyes in bliss.
