The second day of Sayako's self-imposed mission to nurse Sukuna back to health dawned like any other day. Well, almost any other day. It wasn't every day that you played nursemaid to the King of Curses, but Sayako had somehow found herself in this surreal situation. The first day had gone better than expected- if you ignored the constant back-and-forth banter and the not-so-subtle power plays. But today, she was determined to keep things on track. Sukuna needed rest, not a sparring partner, no matter how much he seemed to enjoy provoking her.

Unfortunately, despite her best intentions, Sayako found herself arriving at Sukuna's room five minutes later than the previous day. Five minutes! But it was just five minutes- hardly anything to get worked up over, right?

Wrong.

As soon as she stepped into the room, Sukuna's four eyes snapped open, locking onto her with a predatory gleam. "You're late," he drawled, a smirk tugging at his lips.

Sayako blinked. "Late? It's barely-"

"Five minutes," he interrupted, raising one of his eyebrows as if she'd committed a grievous sin. "What kept you? Busy thinking about me, I presume?" { beta reader: chappal se marungi chup kar } [ author: gurl couldn't help but get her desi side out at this ]

A faint blush dusted her cheeks, but Sayako quickly recovered it with her hand "If you must know, I was-"

"Dreaming about me?" Sukuna cut in, his smirk growing wider.

Sayako scoffed, setting the bandages and supplies down with a bit more force than necessary. "In your dreams, Sukuna."

"Ah, so you were thinking about me." Sukuna leaned back, his massive form taking up most of the space in the futon, looking entirely too pleased with himself. "You don't have to be shy about it. It's only natural to be infatuated with a man like me."

Sayako shot him a glare, though the effect was somewhat dampened by the amused glint in her purple eyes. "Let's just get this over with," she muttered, reaching for the bandages.

Sukuna let her work in silence for a few moments, watching her with that same predatory gaze that made her skin tingle. She focused on her task, determined not to let him rattle her- until he spoke again.

"You're lucky I'm in a good mood today," Sukuna mused, his tone deceptively casual. "Otherwise, I might have had to teach you a lesson for being late."

Sayako didn't rise to the bait, merely tightening the bandage around his arm a little more than necessary.

"Oops," she said, feigning innocence. "Too tight?"

Sukuna's four eyes narrowed slightly, but instead of reprimanding her, he chuckled- a low, ominous sound that sent a shiver down her spine. "Careful, Sayako. You wouldn't want to provoke me."

She gave him a tight smile. "And you wouldn't want to bleed all over your futon, would you?"

Their eyes locked, a silent challenge passing between them. Then, without warning, Sukuna's expression darkened, and the air around them seemed to thrum with energy. Sayako's heart skipped a beat as she felt the familiar, terrifying presence of his cursed technique- Shrine. { beta reader: such a over dramatic reaction }
