Sayako stood outside Sukuna's room, taking a deep breath. 'Okay, Sayako, just another day of bandage duty. Nothing to worry about. Just get in, do your job, and-' Her thoughts screeched to a halt as she heard a voice that sounded like honey mixed with nails on a chalkboard. { beta reader: she's doing a 360 on the writing style again }

"Oh, Sukuna-sama, you're soooo strong and brave! Let me take care of you, pleeeease?"

Sayako's eye twitched. There was only one person who could sound that infuriatingly flirtatious, Yorozu. She knew that voice anywhere- she had seen yorozu every now and then in the shrine and heard about her from her maids as well, but never had a conversation with her

Her voice was sickly sweet like syrup and just as sticky. With a deep breath, sayako slid the shoji door open, ready for battle.

There, lounging next to Sukuna like a particularly smug cat, was Yorozu. She was practically glued to Sukuna, wearing what had to be the world's most pathetic excuse for a kimono- so sheer it might as well have been made of spiderwebs. a kimono that was definitely more 'oops, I forgot to get dressed' than 'I'm here to be helpful.'

And Sukuna? Well, his face was a mix of 'I will destroy everything' and 'How did I end up in this nightmare?' he was ready to launch yorozu into the sun. But, you know, with all four arms, because that would really get the job done.

"Yorozu," Sayako began as she walked into the room, her voice dripping with forced politeness, "I need to change Sukuna's bandages. You can leave now."

Yorozu turned to her with a smile so sweet it could've rotted teeth. "Oh, Sayako-chan! But Sukuna-sama needs me here! I'm sure he's enjoying my company, right, Sukuna-sama?" She batted her eyelashes so furiously, it was a wonder she didn't take flight.

Sukuna's smile was the stuff of nightmares. "Oh, yes, Yorozu. I'm just thrilled to have you clinging to me like a curse I can't exorcise."

Sayako barely managed to suppress her snort. But Yorozu, apparently immune to sarcasm, pouted like a child denied candy. "You're just grumpy because you're hurt. But I can make you feel alllll better!, also!" She said turning to sayako "I was just about to help him, Sayako-chan! Why don't you take a break? I'll handle it~!"

Sayako forced a smile so sweet it could have curdled milk. "Thank you for the offer, Yorozu, but I've got it covered. You can go now."

"But Sukuna-sama needs me!" Yorozu whined, clinging to Sukuna's arm as if she were a barnacle and he was a very unwilling ship. "Isn't that right, Sukuna-sama?"

Sukuna's eye twitched, and Sayako could have sworn she saw a vein pop out on his forehead. "If by 'need,' you mean 'want to throw out the window,' then sure," he said through gritted teeth.

Yorozu's pout morphed into a whine. "Sukuna-sama, you're so mean!" She finally let go of him, stomping her foot in frustration. "Fine! But don't come crying to me when you miss my company!"

With one last dramatic huff, she flounced out of the room, leaving behind a wave of overly sweet perfume that made Sayako's nose itch. { beta reader: she's acting like that in 2024??? shameful }

Sayako exhaled slowly, trying to remember her inner peace. 'Okay, you've got this. Just change the bandages and-'

"You're jealous."

Sayako froze mid-speech in her head "Excuse me?"

Sukuna's smirk was so smug it could've powered a small city. "You're jealous. I could practically feel the heat from over here. I'm surprised the bandages didn't catch fire."

Sayako's face turned a shade of red that would've made a tomato jealous. "I-I'm not jealous! I just didn't want her to get in the way while I'm trying to do my job."

"Uh-huh. And I'm sure that's the only reason you were about to strangle her with those bandages."

Sayako fumbled with the bandages, trying to pretend she wasn't currently imagining the many ways she could silence Sukuna's smirk. "I'm a professional. I'm just here to make sure you don't fall apart. Literally."

Sukuna leaned in, his voice a teasing murmur. "You know, if you wanted to be alone with me, all you had to do was say so."

Sayako yanked the bandage a little too hard, nearly pulling Sukuna off the futon. "Oops," she said, with all the sincerity of a cat knocking a glass off a table.

Sukuna winced, then chuckled, a low, infuriating sound that sent her pulse racing for all the wrong reasons. "If you keep this up, Sayako, people might start thinking you have feelings for me."

Sayako's hands trembled as she tried to finish wrapping the bandages, the blush on her face now a permanent fixture. Of course, he doesn't remember how much she loved him, but she can't say that now "You're delusional. I'm just doing what I have to"

"Right. And I'm a delicate flower you want to keep all to yourself." Sukuna grinned, clearly enjoying her discomfort. "But I have to admit, it's cute watching you get all worked up."

Sayako, now at the end of her rope, grabbed the last of the bandages and threw them at his face. "Rest, Sukuna. I'll be back tomorrow."

As she stomped out of the room, she could hear Sukuna's laughter echoing behind her, mocking her every step.

"Don't be late tomorrow, Sayako! I might need some more special attention!"

Sayako stormed down the hallway, her face burning, mentally listing every curse word she knew and promising herself that tomorrow, she'd bring enough bandages to wrap Sukuna up like a mummy and shut him up for good.
