Sayako stepped into Sukuna's room with her usual supplies- bandages, herbs, ointments- but there was nothing usual about her today. Her posture was stiff, her steps light as if she feared being too loud. The weight of what had happened yesterday clung to her like a fog, clouding her thoughts, tugging at her emotions. She couldn't even look up as she entered, her fingers gripping the bandages just a little too tightly.
The room was dimly lit, the Light of the setting sun casting Long shadows across the tatami mat. Sukuna was sitting on his futon, his back turned toward her, staring out of the shoji window. His four arms rested casually at his sides, the muscles beneath his skin visibly relaxed-a rare state of calm for the King of Curses. The usual tension that clung to his presence had dulled, replaced with something almost serene. Almost.
But Sayako wasn't fooled. She knew better than anyone that his calm exterior was like the eye of a storm- dangerous stillness before the chaos. She swallowed nervously, still trying to push away the memory of what had happened yesterday. The kiss. The mere thought of it sent heat rushing to her cheeks. His lips on hers, the possessive way his hands had held her, as if he would never let go. Her heart pounded in her chest as if her body couldn't forget it, even if she tried,
'No! Get it together, Sayako!' she thought furiously to herself. 'This isn't the time to dwell on... that.'
But it wasn't so easy. Every time she blinked, she could feel the ghost of his lips brushing against hers, and her body reacted without permission. Her heart raced, her palms became clammy, and her throat felt like it had swallowed a desert.
Sukuna, of course, hadn't said a word since she entered, but the silence between them felt suffocating. He didn't need to speak -his presence alone could fill the room. He was always watching, always waiting. And that intensity? It was palpable. She could feel his crimson gaze on her, even though he hadn't turned around yet.
With shaky hands, Sayako knelt beside him and began the familiar routine of changing his bandages. The task should have been mechanical by now; she'd done it so many times in the past few days. But today? Today was different. Her hands trembled slightly as she unwrapped the old bandages, careful not to touch him more than necessary. Yet, every brush of her fingers against his skin sent jolts of awareness through her.
'Does he remember the kiss? The question echoed in her mind. Does he even care?'
She wasn't sure she wanted to know the answer. And yet, she couldn't stop thinking about it. About him. The tension in the room was suffocating, pressing in on her from all sides.
As she worked, she could feel his gaze shift, like a predator watching its prey. Slowly, she glanced up, just in time to see Sukuna turn his head to look at her, his eyes glowing with mischief. That same glint that always made her heart skip a beat was back. A soft smirk played on his lips, like he was enjoying the way she squirmed
under his gaze.And then, he leaned closer.
Sayako's breath caught in her throat as Sukuna's face drew nearer. The world around her seemed to slow down, and she could hear nothing but the rapid thumping of her own heart. Was he... was he going to kiss her again? Or was he teasing her? She couldn't tell. The line between teasing and seriousness was always blurred with him
Her body acted before her brain had a chance to catch up. Instead of pulling away, like she knew she should, Sayako closed her eyes and Leaned in ever so slightly, as if testing the waters. Her Lips barely brushed against his, a soft touch that sent her mind reeling. { beta reader: oh }
