As soon as Sukuna's presence filled the air, the entire atmosphere seemed to shift. The weight of his cursed energy was suffocating, a storm of fury that made the ground tremble beneath them. His sharp, crimson eyes landed on Shirogane, and in an instant, he understood everything. His chest burned with a rage so intense that it threatened to consume him. { beta reader: YES HE'S HERE }
"How dare you," Sukuna's voice was a deadly growl, echoing through the flames and the chaos around them.
He unleashed his Shrine technique without hesitation, his cursed energy surging like a tidal wave, aiming to cut Shirogane down. But Shirogane, despite being weakened and stunned by the events, managed to dodge, narrowly avoiding the deadly blow. Sukuna's eyes narrowed, his fury only intensifying, but he forced himself to pull back. Shirogane could wait.
Sayako needed him now.
Sukuna's body moved faster than thought, kneeling beside Sayako in an instant. Her form was trembling, blood dripping from her eyes as she clawed at her throat, battling the beast that threatened to break free. He reached out, gently pulling her hand away from her throat, his touch firm yet tender. Without a word, Sukuna leaned in, pressing his lips against hers, pouring his calming presence into her. { beta reader: blinks }
The world around them blurred for a moment. It was just the two of them, locked in a desperate embrace as Sukuna tried to ground her, to remind her of who she was. His kiss wasn't just a gesture, it was his way of anchoring her to this reality, to him, pulling her back from the edge.
Sayako's tears of blood continued to fall, her golden eyes still glowing with the remnants of the beast's power, her body shaking as the battle within raged on. But Sukuna wouldn't let her go. Not to the beast. Not to anything. He tightened his grip on her hand, refusing to let her slip away.
"Sayako..." he whispered, his voice barely audible through the storm of emotions building inside him. "Stay with me."
But as his anger subsided for just a moment, it came roaring back with a vengeance as he glanced around, taking in the devastation surrounding them.
His gaze landed on the bodies... Akito and Yuna, lifeless, still holding each other in death. A scene so heartbreaking it momentarily shattered even his hardened heart. But it wasn't over. His eyes moved again, searching frantically, and then he saw it.
Ryo. His son. { beta reader: god i dont want to read the rest... }
The small, lifeless form of his six-month-old son laid motionless on the ground, innocent and undeserving of this cruelty. Sukuna's breath caught in his throat, and a wave of unbridled fury crashed over him like nothing he had ever felt before. { beta reader: i hate this }
Shirogane. He could sense it. That bastard had done this. He had murdered their child.
Sukuna's eyes darkened, a mixture of horror and wrath flashing through them as he struggled to contain the fury bubbling beneath his skin. His cursed energy flared violently, the air around him vibrating with the intensity of his rage. But he couldn't release it, not now, not when Sayako still needed him to hold on. Not when she was still fighting for her own soul.
Uraume arrived just then, their breath catching in their throat as they took in the horrifying scene. The once-pristine shrine was reduced to ash and ruin, flames devouring what was left, the night sky thick with smoke and the sickening scent of blood.
"Sukuna-sama..." Uraume whispered, their voice breaking as they fell to their knees, overwhelmed by the destruction and loss before them.
But Sukuna barely heard them. His focus remained on Sayako, on the blood spilling from her eyes, the tremors wracking her body. He wasn't going to lose her too. He had lost enough. His son... his friends.
